Hahahaha. Great argument Yeh, Technics are great decks. Trust your experience I say (Mr PD-1 ).

Posted by Nyquist_Theorem on Nov-23-2005 13:53:

lol can of worms this one, whoever said technics turntables never break never worked in a DJ shop.

you can email me (matt at vinylwarning dot com dot au) or marsh (marsh at ...) with any questions you have on decks. We've got the entire range of Technics, Stanton and Numark turntables in our shop, and if you're in Melbourne you're welcome to come by and have a mix - we've got a set of STR8150s set up in the shop with a Xone 92, and we can plug in any other deck you'd like for comparison so you can try em and decide for yourself.

FWIW ST150s are currently outselling Technics turntables (all models) by about ten to one for us.

suppose i should change my avatar seeing as how i don't have 1200s any more...

true this. i've had heaps of DJs come over, jump straight on my 150s, and mix flawlessly from their first record. similarly, when i play at a club i'm on 1200s, and i find zero adjustment time from home to club and back again.

this is probably a much bigger discussion than needs to be had in this thread, and some people are unlikely to have their minds changed. it's probably worth considering, though, that Marsh and I were both singing the exact same 'its gotta be technics' song being sung in this thread... until we actually spent some quality time with the 150s.

yeah, and you 2 know *infinitely* more about this shit than yours truly (tho i do recall marshall once telling me the djx700s were good ), but i didnt go straight to Win 98 or XP or jump straight onto nvidia or ATI simply coz i like something expensive to have stood the test of time before i drop cash on uprading.
and tbh im not good enough (and never likely to be!) to need a table that does anything but spin round and not break which my 1200s do fabulously

Popped in during my travels over yonder. Nice little set up and top people running the joint.
Thanks to marsh and Nyquist (briefly) for convining me the Stanons were the way to go. Will get around to ordering them at some stage.............

heh come on man, they're $379 new for a four channel mixer with effects and kills. $379 barely buys you one channel of a DJM300, half a channel (down to the mid eq) on a DJM600, or the first four pages of the Xone 92 manual.

Great to meet you too Mr Trance Nutter, always nice to put a name to a face and talk tunes and gear.

The latest round of Anjunabeats Promos are here...

Sunny Lax - Puma (with Cassiopeia on the B-side)

and

Luminary - Amsterdam (Original Mix on the A, Smith & Pledger Remix on the B)

I'd imagine most of you have already caught enough of the buzz that no more introduction is needed. strictly limited quantities, you can pick em up in the shop as of right now (watching them come out of the box!) and they'll be up on the web within a few days.
