Nowmy workout time is going to be anywhere between 7:30-9:00. I dont like going to the gym right after work because its really packed then. Should I go home first and eat those meals and let my food settle and then go work out? What about the whole protein shake and/or protein within 45 minutes of your workout? Thats mostly for weight training right? Im mostly going to be doing cardio and abs in the beginning. Light on the weight training, more on cardio at first, so is it ok to skip the whole protein rule until I start focusing mainly on lifting weights? Or.. Should I have something light for breakfast (I usually grab a banana on my way out the door and eat it in the car with a full bottle of water) and then have a late lunch like a sub or something and then not have dinner until after my workout? Maybe Ill have a snack before the gym like a granola bar and some fruit..just something to hold me over until I eat dinner. Right now I just want to tighten things up a bit and get my heart in shape. |

| Originally posted by XaNaX I dunno, maybe, but for me personally it seemed to work better if I didn't eat late at night when cutting. Plus if I only have X number of calories to eat during the day I'm gonna eat them earlier on to keep me from feeling hungry all the time not an hour before I go to bed when I'm gonna be asleep anyway. |
morning workouts suck :\ I hate them. I haev breakfast at 7:30 and workout at like 10 followed by another good meal
ok so i'll just do my normal fruit in the morning and then lunch at lunch time (sandwiches, soup, etc...) and then i'll go home and fix my meal and then do my workout. i always work up an appetite though so i'll just have a piece of fruit when i get home or some cereal.
i got some vanilla soy milk and special K. that's a good snack before bed.
i love my morning workouts, I'm usually at the gym at 530AM. Well I put the weights down and stopped my weekly lifting routine. traded out the plates for a pair of running sneakers! I've been runnin for about 3 weeks now on the treadmill and i'm averaging 2-3 miles per run. I do some small shoulders and arms lifting before I run just to keep the muscles moving.
so far i'm down 15lbs, another 20 to go, diet is steady, routine is steady, so hopefully before winter i'll be down to 155-160 and i'll muscle back up through the winter.
RUN:NYC!
do you use protein shakes?
i use scitec whey protein, 2 shakes a day:
1 shake: 500ml of milk, 25 grams of proteins and one egg (only the white stuff) ...that's 16+25+7=48 grams of proteins
so 2 shakes a day means 96 grams/day....i don't know how much i get from meals tho. i'm 85 kg.
any suggestion?
edit: sometimes i take 5 grams of creatine monohydrate with the shake too.
I finally joined a gym last week and it's been kicking my ass. I thought I was in shape with all the workouts I'd been doing, but I was wrong.

ehh...tuna and veggies are cheaper
Slylee - I can't bring myself to drink those shakes either. I would rather eat solid food. The tuna thing you mentioned sounds good...
On another note, I've been kicking my own ass at the gym and it feels awesome. Finished with school and internship so I can officially go back to 5 days a week @ 2hours/day without stressing about other stuff.
the shakes are a supplement. Its hard to take in 200+ grams of pure protein a day.
bigger you get the more protein you need. Its for people shooting for muscular builds.
Trimming down its also nice to lose the fat and maintain the muscle but not as important.

Well it depends if you put mayo on it or not. Some people prefer their 'sammies' without the mayo, which is much healthier.
The egg white contains lots of protein.
oh.
yea not that funny.
