in today's game, the defense didn't help out when the pitchers actually made good pitches
the Yanks were beating Schilling, but Moose gave the lead right back twice
Wow I got all excited when jorge hit that homer.......
too excited too soon!!

great game to watch until the 7th...i would rather use the bull pen from central booking brooklyn than ours...
as soon as the ball gets handed to proctor or myers,,i feel like crying.....
awesome game...Go AROD. Mariano finally holding it down.
great game from start to finish no matter who you were rooting for. I have 3 thoughts:
1. Arod's home run was nuts - how someone takes an 0-2 fastball on the outer part of the plate and drives it out is beyond me. I'm still surprised Pap didn't throw his splitter up 0-2, usually his strikeout pitch in that situation.
2. Abreu is playing terrible. He's looking better at the plate I guess but he simply looks lost in right field.
3. I'm surprised the Sox offense has been so effective when you consider how ineffective Manny & Ortiz have been of late. I give a lot of credit to Theo and Tito sticking with Pedroia - for a little guy he really knows how to handle a high fastball and isn't bad defensively at all and Youk is absolutely crushing the ball.

Great game,,needless to say me and the wife were arguing all the way through it..When the Red Sox are beating us she's so fucking sympathetic towards me but when we're beating them she hates me with a passion...

I knew Drew was going to suck. i said that on page 8 of this thread. |
One step forward, one and a half back. it's getting to the point where i can't even watch anymore.

^^ I'm not gonna quote you steven.
FIrst, my last post was right after the loss to chicago on monday and was in direct reference to how we hit against boston, and couldn't hit against the white sox. However, last night all the bats came out. Maybe this is a turning point since Cano's BA is almost up to .280, abreu is 9 for his last 17 (or something like that), Damon is finally hitting, and matsui is also hitting. Seems like arod is about to get hot again, and posada is his usual hot self. Who knows.
i think it may be a little premature to say it's our year because an 11.5 game lead is alot to overcome, although not impossible. We still need to fix the pitching before we can overtake the sox. I think we're only 6.5 out of the wildcard, so it's definitely not over. But even if we make the playoffs we will get nowhere without some solid pitching from the bullpen.

focussing on the wild card is what Boston and Toronto need to be focussed on not the Yankees...My wife is a die hard Red Sox fan and even she cringes when hearing the kinds of comments you are making.....
my honest opinion is is that Boston have a good chance of finishing second.....not a brilliant chance but a good chance....

| Originally posted by djstopngo There's a saying in baseball - every team's going to win 54 games, every team's going to lose 54 games - it's what you do with the other 54 games that count. You guys have lost 31 out of the 54 you're "supposed" to lose - for the Yanks to win the division it would take an unprecedented second half of the season as well as a Sox meltdown. I'm not saying it's not going to happen, just that I'd be more focused on getting the wild card spot, which is legitimate considering all the AL Central teams are just going to beat up on each other (exempting the royals, of course). |

I'm definitely with you....we've looked good since the beginning of the boston series. hopefully it continues. Apparently abreu, damon, and cano are coming out of their slumps, and arod is starting to heat up again. It is definitely looking up, and if wang and pettitte continue to bring it, clippard and mussina can at least hold it down, and hughes can come back and look dominant like in his last game, we may have something going forward. I'm feeling much better about the yankees this week than last. |

| Originally posted by jerZ07002 thanks man.... and i wasn't trying to bring you down. i can definitely appreciate the positivity.....i must admit, i was getting down on the yanks the last few weeks. we looked like shit....the spirit is coming back after the last four wins. I'm finally getting back into it. those 14 or so losses in 19 games was a killer. I can't remember a stretch like that since the mid 90's. i love it when sox, and now mets fans are down on their teams. it's for no other reason than they love seeing the yankees lose. btw...the name is james |
