Dumb ass. Its not like a race, its a TOURNAMENT. You lose the game in order to WIN the silver in a tourney. Americans are proud to have made it that far and certainly WON the silver. Doesnt make them less upset directly after the GAME they lost was over Im sure it sucks!

and if what you are saying holds truth, then this whole thread of comments you are technically arguing, as most people in this thread have gone on and on about how important GOLD's are, and how silvers are "first losers."

On that note, these games have been awesome. Vancouver is beautiful, and I am certainly tempted to visit now. STUNNING! Canada: amazing games, great athletes, and very very awesome that you can laugh at yourselves as well


I would have to believe that the only part of this Olympics that sucked is the weather and this thread, half-full of idiots

A good portion of the world thinks we're assholes for our tactics in regards to these game. It's about effin' time if you ask me. I think it sends a message that perhaps the external perception of Canadian's in the past may have been slightly unrepresentative of who we actually are.

i think the canadians would have at least acknowledged the guy handing them their medals

one of the few times I agree with you in this thread

U.S. was upset at losing in overtime, especially after scoring late after pulling the goalie. If it were a 5-2 game you would have seen far different expressons for sure. The rollercoaster of emotions would get to anyone.

Yankeeboobie had some good arguments in this thread, unfortunately peppered with too many eye-rolling-at-others comments.

You can effectively convey your arguments without the hypersensitivity rants about others being hypersensitive

Don't know why no one mentioned this about the final game. The thing that I didn't like about the US team, they played pretty cheap. The pushing, checking and behind the back cheap shots ... Even when the whistle blew. Reminded me of high school bullies. TBH, It's was uncalled for.

if the canadian guys lost, they would have acted much worse. they probably wouldn't have showed their face for the medal.



On a better note. We were sitting on the couch and looking at the footage from Dundas Square and couldn't let the opportunity pass to actually go down there. That was the best decision. The crowd surfing was insane. So many nice photos. I also found the one guy with a Poland hat . Ha ha! Wikkid.

The sad thing is, Crosby had a terrible Olympics, but because he scored that goal the casual fan will make him into a hero.

Also I don't think that Canada will get an Olympics anytime soon after this one. Competition-wise, it was great, but logistically it was handled very poorly:

- Luger death
- Gaffes at opening ceremony and Gretzky bringing the torch to the outdoor cauldron
- Very poor weather conditions in the mountains (too many people wiping out, events consistently delayed, etc.)
- Questionable judging in some sports from Canadian officials, most notably pairs figure skating
- Canadian women's hockey team disgracing their country on center ice after they won gold...yes...champagne and drinking are acceptable...but no team has been stupid enough like them to this point to do it in public
- A couple other things too

Again good Olympics, but terribly organized.

Excellent point on Crosby. I also thought Bergeron and Brodeur struggled, as did Pronger at times.

Every Olympic has issues during, see Athens and Atlanta for starters. And as for the weather, that's out of the organisers control but yeah, there were gaffes here and there. Out of all your points I would say the luge death is the only truly relevant one.

The other issues obviously pale in comparison and are minor issues you tend to have any time you put on an event of this scope and magnitude. I'm sure with a bit of research you'll find issues in every Olympics.

This was the tale of two Olympics, the unfortunate aspects of the first week and the shining moments of second one.

We won't get the Olympics for awhile because we had it in '88 and 2010, not because of the issues you listed. Money speaks volumes, however, and these games probably turned a profit and satisfied many sponsors, I'm sure. The TV numbers will be huge as well.

I hear Quebec City will push for the Olympics in 2024. This is gonna be a tough act to follow as they will have to build almost everything from scratch. It will be on a much smaller scale than these games, most likely.

there are issues like that at every olympics. anything can happen. i love how the weather issue is added to the list. like we were controlling the weather with our "terrible" organization.
