they pegged what we could expect to pay for a liter of fuel here by summer at 1.80$. I get my gas mostly on the company dime, but even that is going to change somewhat. The worst part is, here it is mostly taxes....fucking pepper gov.

Indeed, all those things are true; however, fuel consumption is generally in both. The problem we have is that the bulk of our population was educated in imperial measurements and that our economy is so interdependant with the US that industrial mesurements and specifications are usually imperial (because we're using machinery, tools, fasteners, etc. that are built for the US market). The end result is that Canadians need to know both... that and I have to have two sets of wrenches, sockets, and various other tools. With regard to football; that's just a matter of tradition... the size of the field was established nearly 100 years prior to metric. It is real funny though... baby boomers will talk about tempertures in F and gen xers look at them with utter confusion. Same deal with measurement... when we work on home improvement projects my father in-law will give me a mesurement in fractions of an inch and I'll convert it to mm and vice versa.

it is ridiculous.. when i went to hair school we learn to cut in inches.. i swear we use every form of measurement. i'm surprised we don't weigh in stones!
