Actually, Europe uses kgs and USA uses lbs.
But I write both on this forum so people could understand me easier. :P

i've really lowered the weights A LOT!! and to be perfectly honest, this is some of the best workouts i've ever had...i'm definitely making progress. i'm done playing the "omg look at how much i lift" game hehehe

no...i'm planning on building muscle...i'm just lifting a better way. trust me i can put up some weight...but i think that's really just a waste of time. i like this new way better.

Posted by Michael19 on Mar-20-2005 19:28:

care to share this "better way"?

i just dont get how lifting less weights then you are used to will help gain muscle?

basically...you are trying to lift more weight then you should. you should take the weight down a notch and concentrate on proper form and feeling the muscle work. its just a different approach. i mean yeah i've gotten results lifting as much weight as i can, but i think this way is gonna provide better results.

and the day after a work out with less weight...the muscle is sore because i targeted it so well. i don't have a lot of secondary and supportive muscles too sore to workout. and i don't have any stiffness in joints and shit either which is another problem i had. i just think by lowering the weight and really focusing in on the muscle you're working, that i'm actually getting a better workout.

and i guess you're point about leaner muscle mass is something as well. i do feel like the muscles are becoming more defined...which i'm not gonna complain about hehe

cant argue with that. I usually lift the weight i am comfortable with. I have been tempted to move up for the last set but i dont think it will be worth while. Sure as it is i am usually struggling on the last few reps!

Chest and back tomorrow, should be good!

bet there not as impressive as my 12" guns

Posted by Floorfiller on Mar-20-2005 19:45:

well i mean...i used to literally increase weight...by five pounds everytime i could hit 12 reps twice in a row...i used to rep somewhere between 180-210 on bench...but the muscle was never really getting that great a workout. this way i'm like half of that and the next day pec is feeling worked...so i think its just about the focus on the muscles...

thats still pretty big !

i try to do as much weights as i can handle usually.. (while maintaining form of course) and then lower the weight down throughout my sets

so basically my sets try to go: warm up, higher, higher, same, lower, very low.

this way i totally kill the muscle.. i wont be able to go back to near that muscle group for a couple of days.

i am seeing results this way in size, and strength

i should try you way too flooriller see how it works.. i guess everybodies body is different.

well..shit you can't argue with results hehehe. and like i said...i've seen results that way too. i'm just trying something different for a little bit.

but see here is the difference i'm noticing...

when i used to do that...with big weight you get to your last reps and you're struggling, but are you struggling because the muslce is tired or because you're body is tired? when i'm getting to those last reps with what i've been doing now...my body is fine...i'm out of breath, but the muscle is seriously just too worked to lift the weight anymore. i think when i used to just try to put up a lot of weight...my body would just be exhausted or the supporting muscles would be ehausted and that would cause me to not be able to do more. i think when you do more weight then you should, you basically force the secondary muscles to take over to lift the weight, whereas if you use a lighter weight you can focus on the actual muscle lifting it...

and well...its not like an impressive 16 hehe...i'm still a fat ass hahaa

if i was you nrg...i'd do whatever you're doing while you're still getting results. maybe if you hit a plateau...then go ahead and try out what i'm talking about...i guess the most important thing is the results hehe..

i've been stretching and stuff...but i don't really do a warm up set anymore. i do 4 working sets and that's it...

What are you saying 16 is, the size of your biceps?

Word!

I agree with you about lowering the weights. If you're working out at too much weight, you cheat. But if you lower the weight, you'll do the correct range of motion, thus getting better results!s

I used to be able to throw up around 300 on incline bench. those pictures from 2 years ago on page 1 were what I looked like. All my gains have been from focusing on a slow negative, a flex on the contraction, and a solid push for contraction. Proper form necessitates a lower weight. and getting the strong fibers tired and then dropping down and making all the weak ones lift means 80% of your muscle will grow instead of the already strong 20%

well i got the biceps up to 15 today (slightly less on the right)

measured up today at:
weight: 200.7lbs
chest: 43.5"
biceps: 15"
waist: 33" (i think)
quads: 23"
calves: 15"

chest is what i really need to get focussed on now, it's my one lagging part, though really hit it awesome today, so should improve fast

Posted by Floorfiller on Mar-21-2005 20:54:

so get the pics up damn it...

ps. care to guess about what your body fat is?
