We're getting ourselves into one now - dropped the last 3 and we're down a run in 8th to the A's. We're not hitting and we always struggle out west.
Plus, for some idiotic reason, we've moved Youk for the 2nd to the 5th spot which means we're not getting anybody on base for manny & ortiz. Our lineup should be:
Pedroia/Lugo
Youk
Ortiz
Manny
Lowell
Pena/Drew
Varitek
Crisp
Lugo/Pedroia
I'm officially annoyed.

I think the theory is that youk is hotter than manny and ortiz at the moment. Francona probably thinks manny and ortiz will get on and youk will drive them in, i agree that it's stupid. Your lineup looks pretty solid. Youk has that high BA and OBP, so he is definitely a good 2 hitter.
welcome to the yankees fans world of the last few months.

Who cares James??..Boston have lost six out of the last seven..Their line up does look solid,, although far less solid than ours...We're on a roll now buddy and if you look at our schedule compared to Boston's(taking traveling into account) .....we will be in front of them by late July
My attitude towards managers is simple..If they spent more time studying their team rather than chewing tobacco and spitting then they might have a better idea of what is actually going on on the field..Francona and Torre are awful managers,,they get themselves into so many confrontations just to justify their own piss poor existence.....

i don't really care about boston except in the sense that i want to keep up to date for standing purposes. However, that requires me to have an understanding of boston comparable to a passive red sox fan.
I definitely agree that our lineup is better (on paper until this point, and increasingly looking like we're about to dominate on the level we should). I also agree that torre is a bum and should have been replaced last year. I think gerardi is going to take over at the end of the year.
our schedule up to the allstar game isn't exactly a cake walk either. We have the Mets, Oakland, Arizona, and the team we never seem to beat, the angels. Although we do have the distinct advantage of playing every one of those teams at the stadium (19 of the next 29 at home). I'm also glad we don't have to face san diego and peavy, although it looks like we'll face haren on the last day against oakland at the stadium on july 1 (if the rotation stays the same).
with all that said, stopngo is a smart poster and i revel at any opportunity to talk baseball, even if it is about the sox.

ummmmm....not sure about this. If randy looks good it probably has something to do with the NL west. Plus he wouldn't be getting the same kind of run support he was used to with the yankees. He only won 17 games in both years because he was getting ridiculous run support, 6+ runs a start.

big unit wasn't a fit at all with the yanks and there were certainly no signs that he was going to turn it around this season in NY

at this point, it wouldn't hurt to have someone that could consistently show up every fifth day and at least throw strikes, so in that sense you're right. But i think we got the better of the deal with the kids. While Vizcaino is a huge disappointment after posting a sub 4 era last year with the Dbacks, RJ has almost nothing left and we got some young kids that at this point have more potential than RJ.
Remember, some of our pitching pain will go away in the upcoming years when all these kids start throwing in the majors. We have so much talent in the minors that the farm system is ranked in the top 8 (i think, although im not sure of the number). That's not bad considering we were the worst just a few years ago.

it's crazy how the sox were playing well in april and may when manny and ortiz weren't doing well, and since the beginning of june the team has been losing and both have been pretty hot. (admittedly, they are the only one's doing well, youk , lowell, varitek, lugo, and every1 else are suckin it up right now) Funny how that stuff works out, especially when seeing it unfold from NYC.

Schilling just gave up a two out, bottom of the ninth single to Shannon Stewart - spoiling a no hitter that, save an error from Lugo, could've been a perfect game. Damn!
I like our chances down the stretch because our staff is full of slump-stoppers, guys that go out and give quality starts when we're not hitting (as evidenced by Schil's complete game in a 1-0 W).

yeah...i was keeping up with the game on mlb.com and left school in the sixth inning. I just heard that info on espn when i just walked in. Incredible. I think that happened to mussina twice. Sucks for him.

absolutely, things are coming together now....and let's not forget the arod bomb that nailed the game down. AROD is getting hot again. I think this may be a very good june.

that's a typical line for farnsworth. As long as farnsworth doesn't blow the lead yankees fans are happy. It's a sad state of affairs, but that's just how it is.

of course we're happy if the lead doesnt get blown,, regardless who comes in from the bullpen....our bullpen is awful and i'll take anything we can get...i cringe when the ball gets handed to proctor or farnsworth,,but thank god when it doesnt get handed to bruney or myers...

na i like proctor hes the only one thats holding it down an ain t afraid to get his hands dirty (or ejected for that matter) gives the team a bit of toughness farnsworthless on the other hand yea hes a hard thrower but what good is it if u can throw 101 mph but can t make a strike christ enough with the clown car of relievers ffs

bruney (2.33) and meyers (2.84) have both done excellent jobs in the bullpen this year. They have the two lowest ERAs in the bullpen. Bruney has probably been the most consistent in the bullpen this year. Bruney is going to be an excellent pitcher for a while (he's only 25). He has a great fastball and decent breaking stuff. Meyers problem is that he can't get the lefty out anymore, but he is excellent against righties this year. It seems they always hit it to jeter.
Proctor looks really good sometimes, and not so good at other times. The relievers i can't stand coming in from the bullpen are farnsworth and vizcaino.

I watch almost every game James and whilst the stats might back you up,,I pay more attention to how they perform when under pressure and not when we're in front by a mile...
i'm still a beginner but strategically i look at games/players from a different point of view than yourself...
some pitchers in our bullpen obviously have better stats than others but who gives a shit when our bullpen sucks...

I definitely respect that, but i think torre's bad decisions may be affecting how people feel about certain players. torre, at least in april and may, would bring in vizcaino all the time in important situations and wouldn't give bruney the ball in key spots. I don't think anyone should fault bruney because he doesn't have the trust of some douche bag manager, namely torre, to be brought into key spots.
i will admit that i haven't been watching some games because of studying, but i've yet to see a game (except the one against the white sox) where bruney has lost it. Every game i see he seems to do well. I'm just surprised you didn't list Vizcaino because he's a friggin bum. It seems he can't get anyone out, and torre brings him into big situations. That's a huge factor in why i hate torre.

haha...which rule you wanna change? Im down for letting the teams actually fight during the bench clearing brawls. Just give them a one inning penalty, something like hockey.
I would definitely vote for a british ticket for the presidency, maybe a steven/tony blair ticket.
I wish i could come up. Unfortunately for me i have to study for the bar exam which is the next week.
