I would imagine the big rush would be late Dec.. I mean with overrated Tiesto they didn't sell out until around Christmas or so. But don't quote me, I don't work for these guys (well, paid work anyways).

PS, Annie is doing a good job, I like her enthusiasm

Can't seem to find anything about Resolution on ticketmaster

Posted by Spin Laden on Oct-31-2007 18:23:

if it works like anything here in Ottawa I would call or go to one in person.. it seems like these tix get released whenever the organiser (Balenblanc) chooses to, at least that's what I was told last year or before. So if tix do get released as scalper Mizza says this Sat, maybe Ticketmaster may have them by then.

I think for online, it's just wantix or admission.. you guys can check that..

(US thanksgiving, that is.....).

no it won't be sold out by thanksgiving.

Last year, it sold out about 10 days before the event.

edit: 24 dec, tickets sold out at points of sale
27 dec tickets sold out on admission!

I don't think it's wise to base the event being sold out only on last year alone.... Yes Tiesto is a mega feature and that should bring everyone from around the world to buy a ticket but I don't think that is the only influence on selling tickets.

First you consider that last year was the "first" resolution event by these promoters on NYE so there were many who took a "wait and see" approach and didn't have alot of confidence in the event regardless of Tiesto. Many bought there tickets at the last minute in case a better event presented itself or if "cream" was going to do something outrageous....which they didn't.

This is different now , the huge buzz about resolution has started and already everyone is looking forward to it after the experience last year so tickets are being purchased earlier then last year.

Second, As much as we have many tiesto fans the FIRST big headliners this year is are steve lawler and sander van doorm...who draws a different crowd. I think this will affect ticket sales as well.

Third , we all know Tiesto was double booked that night and showed up late , so people rather have great names that are committed to the event rather then a mega name that isn't.

I forcast the event to be sold out earlier this year....

Ya, but 3 days before Montreal has been blessed with the most infamous duo in DJing + Spooky + Sander K to boot, I doubt that everyone can do both.

Posted by Spin Laden on Nov-01-2007 14:40:

to my knowledge last year was the first sellout ever. The Tiesto factor creates a bigger buzz than the decent lineup we have this year, imo (outside of TA). Sad but perhaps true..

this is where I wished I lived in Montreal, or at least knew some reliable ppl there. It really hits the pocketbook to do both. When everything goes right, you usually leave those events with a buzz.. Resolution gives ppl the opportunity to rest up a few days and then do it all over again while the buzz is still there (pocketbook notwithstanding)

Posted by malek on Nov-01-2007 14:53:

redlite, actually the name might have been new last year, but everyone knew there is an event at the Bell center every NYE, be it Celebration or Resolution! (some people still call it Celebration hehe).

Posted by DRredLite on Nov-01-2007 15:04:

Your right there is an event at the bell center every NYE , but last year it was done by a different promotion ( BalenBlanc and GodsKitchen )
so many were talking about going to "celebration" by 514 productions depending on how things looked as the events got closer.

I think the intention with the 28th is to have a "trance" night , and a "house/techno" night on NYE....so it gives people the choice to party on the 28th and then spend NYE doing other things...

Well bigger buzz or not people are talking about resolution now because of the event instead of "the event tiesto is playing at" so we will see what difference that makes.

Sure tiesto attracts a big crowd but there are alot of people who aren't die-hard fans of tiesto that didn't buy a ticket right away last year because of that very reason.

These same people however are big fans of techno and house so that can change things a little.... to be contineuned....

well, we'll see how it goes with the ticket sales. They've done a great job with moving tickets last three massives and the big names (Tiesto, the trance room at BeB) helped for sure. And that momentum carried over to Sensation, coupled with good marketing and the long-anticipated replacement for Cream.

That said, I'm certain many were also turned off with the ticket fiasco at BeB, capacity issues, and a few househeads with trance closing the last massive. That's bound to effect ticket sales negatively, if not now then it will later for sure...

'Surprised you Balenblanc ppl didn't post this event in the TOTA thread.. starting to heat up there now..

I remember when n00bs were saying last NYE:

"are you going to Tiesto @ Bell Center..."

i wanted to shoot them with a shotgun, like 'resident evil'

did u see the tears when they announced he was coming at 8AM?

this year's lineup kicks serious ass, best in years (aside from Dec 28 ).. the only critical thing left now are the timeslots (imo). If they do it up like Sensation, it would be like fumbling the ball on the one-yard line after a long, productive drive.

They wont put SVD and Markus Schulz at start of the night.. call it a fumble, you people always feel something not to be happy about.

SVD will please even the house people IMO anyways

Posted by Spin Laden on Nov-02-2007 23:43:

I've seem 'em both.. in fact I've seen all the djs booked @ Resolution already. If a big chunk of SVD and Schulz's sets are techno I will be a happy camper. But maybe you're right..househeads seem to be more intolerant of trance rather than the other way around, when it comes to the dancefloor, anyways.

Too lazy to read through the entire thread, but what is the lineup as it stands right now?

Posted by Spin Laden on Nov-03-2007 14:44:

read the first post. The flyer keeps getting changed back and forth for some reason, though..
