This is actually an uncommon example of a Pilsner that gets better as it warms. I rescind my earlier assessment, though I still wouldn't recommend it based on its price.

SUPERIOR!

I love that but it's so hard to find. Did they make a new batch of it yet? I know they were out of it for awhile.

Posted by LAdazeNYnights on Oct-18-2011 01:48:

i love the 60min as a summer brew.
this is probably the 12th time i've talked about dfh 60,90,120 mins in this thread hahaha
90 min is indeed a superior brew. a smashing example of how hop-heavy west coast IPAs aren't the be-all-end-all of the style.
the 120 is nice too..for sipping..and getting way drunk. for being so heavy on the booze it doesn't have as big of an alcohol aftertaste as you'd expect which is wonderful

Trying out a new one today, got given a freebie at the bottleshop

Croucher New Zealand Pilsener (excuse the shitty cell phone pic).

Quite impressed by this, actually. It's quite hoppy, but the hops they use give it a really different flavour than I was expecting. The aftertaste, I swear, has a slight hint of lychee. Very refreshing.

^that's a dope glass stu! is the bottle is 12oz or 22oz ?

i have a glass just like it from radberger. i love lychee flavor

I have no idea about ounces, we use the metric system It's a 500ml bottle.

The 60min is a nice session beer, the 90min is great for two or three but it rather rapidly fights back! The 120min is a bit special to just drink for the hell of it. In fact this reminds me it's about time I cracked open one of the 4 pack of 120mins I bought from the brewery...every middle of October I should open one. I've got two left after this one.

Wow, I'd completely forgotten about that. Sometimes it's hard to believe I actually wrote that one!

I think I posted that awhile back and you said you weren't ready for the Imperial Stouts. Went over to the dark side huh?

Love that beer. And it packs a punch.

Yeah, I'll say. I think was tipped me was the Left Hand Milk Stout. Now I can appreciate that fine, oaken flavour.

Storm King tastes just like a well-worn skating rink, only without the bathroom rape.

Best beer review ever.

Pairs nicely with milk steak.

I also like the red velvet for your photo shoot.

i tip my hat to you, sir.
the first time i ever tried this beer was when i met a couple older dudes at a bar, some of whom were visiting from belgium as members of the 'belgian beer board' and embarking on a trip cross the west coast touring breweries. i had the foresight to bring them 2 bottles of pliny the elder. in exchange they gave me a westy 12 (fuck. yes.) and two belgian barley wines. anyway, an older american guy there (who turned out to own the homebrew shop i frequented) was sippin on an old raspy and told me 'my favorite beer. but i only drink it at the end of the night...cuz afterward i don't taste a thing'
lol

After drinking it you are only able to predict tastes from the future.

La fin du monde: very smoky/soapy overtones. Would be unbelievable with some good ribs.

90 minute dogfish: great straight-forward happy IPA. Better than green flash, imo.

You like Fin Du Monde eh?

Not my thing.

But you might also like "Don De Dieu" and "Ephemere (Black Currant)"

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Oct-22-2011 03:52:

Easily the best Abbey I've ever had.

I wouldn't call myself a full-blown fan, but I understand that, in its place, it would be badass. A bit odd on its own, actually.
