-- RIAA Files Lawsuit Against Direct Connect!
Pages (4): « 1 2 [3] 4 »
people seam to be getin to caried away here, this action atm is specifically targeted at some hubs run on college computers not the EMC hub
There are just too many hubs to target, shutting them down one by one would literaly take forever.
Fuck the riaa.. Fuck them hard in the ass... theres no way they could ever stop all the file sharing goin on in the world... Those greedy bastards
thay can chew my lollipop..
don't believe propaganda, they cannot do anything to dc.
The RIAA attempts to halt technology from advancing. Unfortunately that is impossible, and they fail to realize.
FTP's is the best choice.. harder to get ahold of but they are so much better. No RIAA insite! Greedy fucks!
They cant shut it down. There's only once central server and that's used for their public hub list and website. Get rid of that and there's no central resource for them to shut down.
Try it.
DC++ is far better anyhow, like to see them shut down an open source project YAAA RIIIIGHT.
In order for them to have any legal grounds to prosecute Direct Connect they would would have to attack the hub servers, rather than the software makers.
THe software itself does nothing without the servers, and quite frankly, RIAA can't get to the thousands of servers set up. Long live the hub!!
I would imagine that for every hub shut down by the RIAA several more would be established...it's a losing battle. Additionally, RIAA is an intensely shit acronym.

Be it on FTP's, Napster, Kazzaa, Audiogalaxy - over the years you've been able to download all the popular big money making stuff and they have no way of stopping that. It's the specialist dance music which is on the Hub, and if that was to close it would be hard to find an alternative. In other words i am saying they have no way to stop their big money pop shite being shared - so why do they bother trying to stop our stuff that has fuck all to do with them? Are they simple??? |
homo's
Im a bit late to this thread and too tired to read thru the replies... so if my opinions have already been made by someone else, you know why
Theres not a fucking thing the RIAA can do to DC. Unlike Napster, Audiogalaxy, or most all other music/file sharing programs, there is no central server to shut down. Its all run by the users. They cant sue them all, and certainly couldnt even gain access to many of them that are password protected (like our own EMC hub). Once again the RIAA is going to make an ass of itself.
I dunno why you guys are bothering to care really...cause they won't succede and I can guarentee it. Let's not forget..EMC is private and soon oldos...so theres not a god damn thing they can do. Secondly, they can't do anything in counties where have have no power...so don't get your shit in a knot. =) Just continue to leech!
Perhaps these forums should b e locked out to un-registered users (of tranceaddict) so ppl from the riaa can't find out about the hub. They'd need to register, and everybody who is registered is vetted, so this lessens thew liklihood they'd bother to root the hub out.
Even if DC is killed, we still have the software, and the source to the software so as long as the people hosting the hub aren't found, everything is fine.
Ugh. So dumb. Like someone already said, why fight something that will never go away
If DC is shut down we can just use mIRC.

U people are worry worts.
Downloading shit we always be free.
Just think how lucky u have been to get shit for free all this time if DC was going to get fucked
Yo whatever happened to making music because you love too??? although pop music is just corporate fat cats behind the scene.. I think that 100% of the djs would still dj if they didnt get fat checks too..
Allow me to repeat, since people seem to have a tough time wrapping their heads around this idea:
This doesn't affect you at all, so chill out FFS.
