i'm a prOn loving athiest

Posted by Greedy on Apr-22-2003 21:07:

many ppl are agnostic because they need some sort of proof or miracle to occur before them for them to understand. There's nothing wrong with that because many of us can only believe things that we can see. However, there is a thing called faith, and its something that ppl believe in with all their heart even if the only thing they have as proof is a bunch of handed down stories in the bible. The way most ppl think god would present himself/itself/herself is mainly what they see on television. . . .like a big ass ray of light bursting through clouds and a James Earl Jones like voice calling them. For those of you who are looking for that miracle to see, id tell u to look at the miracle of giving birth. Forget all the science behind it. . . the idea of it is amazing.

Posted by Renegade on Apr-22-2003 21:32:

Is there any facet of existence qua the totality of existence that necessitates or unequivcally supports the notion of God? If not, given that we were all born atheists, why the shift towards deism/theism?

This is not only an unfair request but it is also illogical. Can I prove that there is a llama on in the core of mars running a taco stand? No, I can't. But it is highly probable that there is no llama in the core of mars.

If there were proof that God existed, or some feeling that i have been given in life that would cause me to question my atheism, theb i would assuradely reform to some religion or create my own. Becuase I have neither "felt" god nor have i been presented with any proof of gods existance, my atheism still stands.

Please explain how this is a miracle.

Posted by Greedy on Apr-22-2003 23:04:

the fact that a new being is brought to the world and the things that it can do in life is a miracle.

like i said before, you dont need to see/feel/hear anything for god to exist. Its all faith. . . like you have faith in your education to know how things happen, but not necessarily know why or where it came from. . . . . .

I am not a religious person myself, and i dont believe there is a god. However, i do believe that we are not alone in the universe, and that there is probably a much higher life form out there than us.. (Like the Q in star trek )

firstly thats just my thinking on things sorry to whoever it offended but when it comes down to it they think im just as blind for not being able to see god as i thhink they are blind for not being able to realise there is no god.

secondly noone has any proof that there is a god or not so why expect me to come up with some... anys the only way it could ever go is to prove that there is a god you cant prove that there isnt a god. you can however disprove religions.

thridly whether there is life on other planets or parrallel universes or whatever is completely unrelated to the subject at hand... but yes i believe there a possibility that theres life somewhere else but its just as poossible that there isnt!

If these are your words, let me congratulate you. Although it is short, this is the most intelligent post in this entire thread. In fact, it proves the non existance of a god.

Good luck on that one.. i think you you just extended this to another 2 pages...

THe religious ppl will say something like... religion is a feeling within you.. not of a physcial spectrum.. but let me get this... is religion the same as love? you can't see it but feel it...

Think about that!

Cause then there are many things that can be based on this, like hope and faith on other things, like people as well...

Hmm... hope this kicks sum Religious butt... GO ATHEISM!!

Posted by Duke2003 on Apr-23-2003 09:52:

weeeee let's just go agnostic!

Posted by sifntj0r on Apr-23-2003 10:56:

the truth lies somewhere in the middle...

Posted by drizzt81 on Apr-23-2003 15:28:

agnostic here

Posted by Parafox on Apr-23-2003 16:05:

again and again.. you can't proof the existence/non-existence of god in a physical way. I think this is impossible and will never be possible.
Believing in something means that you have to believe in something you cannot see - but you can "feel" it. (it's my own personal experience!!)

..and when you are able to see something, you can't ignore it, because you see it and you have to believe it is the truth!
Believing in GOD means, that you have to trust your feelings and experiences, even when you cant see/touch GOD with your physical eyes!

Posted by Stassi on Apr-23-2003 17:02:

this thread is stupid
atheism has become a trend just like pop-punk.

Exactly, so where is it?

All athiests... join me.. in...

ATHIEST ALLIANCE
We believe in NOTHING.

Posted by solidi on Apr-24-2003 00:21:

certainly these types of beliefs are growing trends because

1. technology increases dramatically
2. scientific knowledge is increasing rapidly

there is more a ratio of questionable believers in first world countries as there are in 2nd and 3rd world countries, this is fact.
As this community is on the forefront of technology and musical trends I wouldnt be surprised that the majority questions the religious institutions.

it is predicted, that if man continues the trend of technology and scientific research, the world community will be more or less non believers. This will take many many years.

personally i do not believe in a god, though I do believe there is a higher authority, not being of human form.

Posted by davinox on Apr-24-2003 00:34:

ATHEISTS AND AGNOSTICS RULE!!!

nic you know I'm in...

Atheism a trend? ahaha. first of all, it is ludicrous to completely definte one's intire thoughts of their creation and existance with just one word, but what am I going to say? "I believe that humans do not know or have been in contact with any divine or extrauniversal beings, therefore religion is a crock of shit." ? That is what I believe, but Atheist/Agnostic is a useful term. Sure, there are blind atheists, who just say, "THERE IS NO GOD!" but don't actually think about it, but do not generalize. Just as you say you are for democracy, doesn't mean you want to vote on EVERY single decision the government makes.

so basically, to all you haters, fuck off.

Posted by torontotrance on Apr-24-2003 00:43:

here we go again.

Posted by Dmatrox on Apr-24-2003 00:55:

I guess im classified as agnostic

I dont understand some things in religious such as "tongues"? or "speaking to god", or convulsing from the touch of a priest.

I guess if you really passionately beleive in something then you believe in it, possibly even ignoring signs that is it not the truth.

This about Schizophrenics (sp), they are delusional and have hallucinations of grandeur or conspriacies, but are these thing really true? Yes in the mind of the beholder they have created their own world, but in reality their world is far from the truth.

Relgion bothers me and i dont want it but i have no problem with people who have a religion.

there is a rather essential flaw in that statement my good fellow

believing in nothing would not make you an athiest, rather it makes you a nilihist (sp?)
