just a note though.... as the rush comes won't be on vinyl for another 3+ months, because G&D are doing record label business, NO ONE will be playing it unless it's a Hardcore promo, or a radio rip/edit..

like....ermmm....me

hehe, i agree with that. But i also like hearing classics. As long as the set is good and there is a reasonable amount of both then im happy.

and Calis

Boundaries of imagination, what a cd! So good, doesnt get mentioned enough, up there with magik 6 imo.

Ok, well, maybe i missed it(i probably did), but when is armin actually coming

I didnt get a chance to see him at GK02 or TT03 so im dying to see him. I have about 20 ASOT episodes and other live sets (loved the Club Eau The hague 7hr Set) and I really really wanna see him live!!

Speaking of sets, i recommend everyone try and find DJ Tiesto In Concert Gelredome 11-05-2003. Tis awesome.

peace out.

Posted by OLi_A on May-15-2003 04:28:

i dont know why you guys are all complaining
i reckon its appropriate to drop the tried and tested tracks at big events because he doesnt have the freedom to experiemtn cause he doesnt play here every week. now if he was playing every week then youd expect him to drop sets with the new tracks he spins on asot
relax your sacks people

[philby]
ok here we go....
whats this, the bashing armin bandwagon?
lets all hop on shall we....

ffs what are you people complaining about?? "oh he only plays anthems" "oh he only plays old stuff, i want new stuff"
of course the other 254 days a year he plays in australia we get new unreleased stuff but i guess he just didnt feel like it
that night and decided to play a set full of anthems....i mean of course we all heard the EM which was only what a month
before his set, and that was full of anthems and old tracks now wasn't it?? WASNT IT?????? far out... god help us if he plays
something that wasn't released 3.65 seconds before he steps onto the decks....i just hate it when a dj playing to an event catering
for all types of dance music decides he will try and play a good entertaining set with some songs you know and some you dont
because when a tennis centre full of hardcore trance fans like us hears that of course its not what we want, we only want brand new
stuff that we never heard anywhere, not even on a radio show a million miles away which specialises in brand new unreleased stuff....

now lets have a look at this set full of anthems from TT and have a look-see shall we???

01. Conjure One feat Sinead O'Connor - Tears From The Moon (Hybrid's Twisted On The Terrace Remix)
wow my hands were in the air right from the start with this storming uplifting piece of breakbeat...

02. Solar Stone vs Scott Bond - 3rd Earth
man when this was played i couldn't believe my ears, i heard this ages ago played by the local pub dj because it was so widely available when it came out last year....

03. ID
woah if u had a hard time searching for this track on the net u wouldnt be looking very hard, i mean everybody knows the classics from "artist unknown"....

04. James Holden - Nothing (93 Returning Remix)
omg my arms were flailing all over the place when this old anthem was blaring from the speakers.....

05. Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown
06. Solar Stone - Solarcoaster (Midway Remix)
07. 4 Strings vs Carlo Resoort - Revelation
08. POS - Remember
09. 4x4 - Indigo
10. GTR - Mistral

ffs what was he thinking, the crowd full of hardcore trance fans doesn't want to hear all these anthems that were released
years ago, i mean come on, we expect a little more dont we???

11. 3 Fingers - Frozen February (Flake mix)
12. Push - Universal Nation 2003 (Push Remix) <<- Anthem new remix
13. Prime Mover - The Weapon (Grinder Remix)
14. Solar Stone - 7 Cities (Armin van Buuren Remix) <<-- Anthem new remix

oh whats this, the set full of anthems going along nicely, never mind the newer remixes, they are still old anthems that we don't want to hear anymore, nevermind how good they are....

15. Cor Fijneman ft. Jan Johnston - Venus (DJ Tiesto Remix)
fuck you guys are right, all he plays are old tunes that we are sick of, like this one here....

16. Age of Love - Age of Love (Mr Sam's Spiritual Remix)
17. Airwave - Above The Sky 2002
18. Kid Vicious - Proceed
19. Green Martian - Wizardry jolene says this is a tune

20. Umek - Gatex (Armin van Buuren Edit)
omg more hands in the air stuff here, i think i will sue him for the permanent damage to my limbs

21. Underworld - Born Slippy <<-- Anthem
wow the whole set full of anthems continues.....

22. Airwave vs Rising Star - Sunspot see above comment from jolene
23. Solar Factor - No Return
24. Viframa - Cristalle (Katana's Intro Mix)
25. Viframa - Cristalle (Katana ft. DJ Precision Remix)
26. Armin van Buuren - Sunburn
27. ID
28. Armin van Buuren - From Beyond The Grave
29. Push - Strange World (2000 remake) <<- Anthem
of course with an entire set of hands in the air anthems you just have to include this track....otherwise it just wouldn't
be a good set of hands in the air anthems.....
30. Armin van Buuren feat. Ray Wilson - Yet Another Day (Hiver & Hammer's Ground Control Remix)

now how much of a disgrace was that set??? absolutely full of these old anthems and tunes we have all heard before
and are sick of hearing. i know that if i ever see something like this i would of course snob it off and not even contemplate going....
man i know if a set with this tracklist was available on direct connect i sure as hell would steer clear of it, and i know you all would too...
because we want more than that dont we???
get over yourselves...
how many threads did we have about two tribes???
how many people came back saying that was amazing???
so fucking what if he played a song in two sets??? what do you want??? of course
its ok, you can go and see any of the other thousand melbourne trance djs playing 7 cities
in an arena full of 8000 people...of course it happens all the time doesnt it???
i for one am sick of hearing these stupid excuses by people looking for attention and
trying to be seen on the fashionable side of dissing popular djs just because they can.

this message endorsed by the 'sick and tired of stupid bandwagons doing burnouts on the forums' party.
spoken by phillip bourne.
and please remember, avb is god (spoken by jolene van buuren)
[/philby]

hope u all had your asbesto suits on...

ok im assuming philby was on too little sleep, or too much alchohol when he wrote that essay.

no one is saying armin is talentless or he sucks or he only plays anthems. My original post was that in general ( besides ASOT of course) armin tends to play the more time-tested tracks, as opposed to tiesto who more often then not pushes the new tracks in his live sets, and for that reason i hold him in slightly higher reguard.

where your rant came from i have no idea, and as usual on internet forums, instead of talking about the actual topic it turns into a flame war and the personal attacks start.

what is this supposed to mean? who is *bashing* armin here? we are simply stating points. I can assure you that the very same people love armin to bits ( i do ) but we as trancelovers like to hear new tracks, being enthsiasts and all. Why is this attention seeking, because we have thoughts and ideas of our own?

Exactly. Tiesto's not scared to try new things rather than simply opting for tracks he knows will work. Armin's TT set was basically his GK set only six months later. I like the anthems, but I also like to exposed to new stuff and be challenged.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and yes. Armin's sets are getting stale and he needs to progress and diversify. There's nothing derogatary about it, it's like anything. You just can't keep doing the same thing over and over again because the excitement factor will eventually wear off.

I don't think you read phil's post did u

I thought it was blatently obvious what he pointed out, and trust me that post took two hours to write
I'm not going to say anymore on this issue, because i know in 2 months time you will all find another dj to pick on, and good help you all if its marco v

IMO ARMINo Rocks

Posted by Ghostface on May-17-2003 05:27:

The point is that some people are obviously happy to hear the same set repeated and if that's your thing, good luck to you. I just think that in a typical set there's enough room to place the tunes of tomorrow alongside the anthems, instead of supplementing the anthems with the tunes he was playing six months ago. Just look at the amount of tracks not ID'd from Tiesto's concert.

The reality is, of the 8000 people in the vodaphone arena at TT the large majority would have only recognised born slippy and maybe seven cities and strange world. The other 90% of the set they wouldn't have had a clue about, other than the fact that it was great music. The fact is the people like us who debate this pointless shit make up a tiny tiny percent of the whole crowd.

What do you want to hear at TT?
We want to hear GREAT TRANCE. That's it. Most people wouldn't have a clue whether the track he was playing was unreleased or years old. They only care that it's a tune. So why not please everyone by playing new stuff. We're going to love trying to ID it, and the rest of the crowd are going to love it because it's a tune. Most of the crowd at TT wouldn't have ever heard half the tracks anyway.

At TT in three hours, Armin could have easily played the anthems and classics as well as future favourites and stuff that he has been hammering the last month or so. Armin is and always has been a genius, I'd just love to see him advance.

I think its pretty safe to say "NO FUCKIN CHANCE!!!!!"

Why would he (or any other really big name) come here when they can get paid a McFuckload more in Europe or the states?? we just dont get the crowds here to make getting the huge names for NYE profitable!

welcome 2001 Sydney
-John Digweed + deep Dish.

is that proof enuff?

Posted by Ghostface on May-19-2003 10:38:

Was that year he did one gig at melb and flew to syd or something?

We certainly get massive crowds but I don't think there in the league of a gatecrasher NYE.
