But as for the TA showcase tent, we have to let all the showcasing producers/DJs do that, and I know I'm in on that.

This is almost pointless... to get this to work, everyone would need to show up at the sametime. Every year anyone tried to organize a camp area has failed simply because everyone got in at different times, and you can't exactly reserve spots for ppl, because it's first come first serve... but it would be great if everyone did get there at the sametime!

That's the FIRSt thing I've checked. 16+!!!

btw, how will they manage alcohol at the camp sites? Will there be somebody checking the bags as we enter? Anybody wants to explain how it will all proceed? From what I imagine, people will be brining in drugs as if there is no tomorow. How will the local law inforcment planning to deal with situation? I hear in Europe they bring in Drug sniffing dogs to check people. ...you never know.

I understand that there will be designated areas for drinking and buying alcohol, but I imagine its going to cost a fortune to purchase anything. Sneaking stuff in would be the best idea. Eh, that's why I'm asking.

And the last question. How's the situation with theft at these events? While I'm jumping around somewhere, what are the chances that some dude takes off with my tent?

I'm soooo in!!!
I like the TA bus idea

Posted by DJ Chrono on May-28-2003 22:46:

Posted by ++ EGO ++ on May-28-2003 23:02:

Hey people, we need that bus! So can we get it organized somehow?!?
Me, Chrono, & Slag are already in on it as a group. So let's try to organize a bus, I'm down with that!

p.s. there better not be lil fags taking off with pps tents!

from the 3 ive been to i haven't experienced any theft...

although it DOES happen, just hasn't happened to me or anyone i know

your best bet is to just not bring anything valueable

what i always did was bring 2 bags...one with all my shit and i leave that in the car, and then a school bag that i might have like my toothbrush, deoderant, etc. kind of stuff in it that i won't be horribly disappointed ifi lost

my theory has been that nobody will try to rob your tent if they don't suspect anything valuable to be in there...which is a reason why ive never locked my tent either...its just as easy to slash the tent...locks just show you have something to hide

i would always have two coolers split with the people in the car...leave onein the car and bring one to the site
that way come saturday afternoon the stuff in your car cooler will still be frozen/cold since it won't be getting opened every other minute

there are searches at the door, but i think the parking is onsite this year...which means your car gets searched
@ wemf 2000 when our car was searched they basically just rifled through our shit quickly to make sure there wasn't any weapons/huge stashes of drugs
the driver stayed with the car and the passengers had to basically walk through and get searched...leaving thier bags in the car

i figure the security there knows that tons of drugs, alcohol, etc. are bound to get in...so they just search for weapons or shit that is hardly hidden

they are search thousands of people's stuff and have to keep the lines moving fast, so they don't exactly give you a cavity search...but don't try to bring in a 40oz under your shirt or something stupid like that

and keep in mind you're camping for 3 days/2 nights...which means bring anything you would normally bring on a camping trip! including tons of water, which i suggest throwing in the freezer 2 days beforehand

i would also suggest bringing tango r some other kinds of drink mix, since water gets nasty after drinking it for like 24 hours straight

its hard to list off all my advice, there's just so much...but its all pretty much common sense

Bah, I don't like this camping on site. Its much easier to sneak in weapons.

Thanks for the info Kid Lax. Very informative. Since you've been to so many of them, how's the atmosphere there?

How about this, all TAs will be watching out for each other's stuff? Some ahead planning here. From what I've read, there is also a lake. Whua! Will skinny dipping be allowed? Who's WITH ME?

I didn't quiet belive that they will actually search people going in with huge bags. I guess alcohol is out. Unless, I take HUGE assortment of juices, 40 bottles of water(20 of which will be filled with 40% mysterious clear liquid.) Alright, I'm cheap! I KNOW! Bitch about it now, but when the day comes, I'm going to see who'll be coming to DiS's tent for the cocktail pre-/afterparty.

TA Bus?
Has it ever been done? Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't there a "normal" bus that is going there as it is? a shuttle bus from what I gather.

Lol... they say this every year, but really there is no lake unless you want to get back in your Car and drive there. The lake isn't on site.

Hey Lax... where did you get your records during the weekend???

My friend who ive known most of my life has a cottage just outside of fenelon falls (10 minutes away), so i just dropped my records off at his house on the thursday and his dad took them up and i picked them up just before my set

dropped them off after my set, and went swimming on the lake and took a boat ride

I find the best way is to camp with a big group of friends, that way someone is almost always at the site sometime during the night

in previous years, we've had maybe 6 or 7 tents with the entrances all facing into a center circle that we put our chairs and stuff...or in other words it was our living room

its completely possible to have a TA camping area...it doesn't matter when you arrive...just hold a space...its not like there's a shortage of space by any means anyways
just don't try to take up a square km saying that your friends are camping there

just a note about sneaking in alcohol in water bottles
the bottles have to be unopened if you want to bring them in

or at least look unopened

Posted by Agent_Orange81 on May-30-2003 02:40:

Satan (eek!)

I'm down for this, but I don't have any camping gear. I'll probably go with my friend's girlfriend. I'm like her love slave. So, I'm required to invite her everywhere. It's not a bad deal, though. I get all the sweet action without the problems. Anyways, I'll most likely go, but the drive is going to be torture.
