Total agree, there are also some serious cabbages on this board.

for the one who said scoring a movie is a sell out. think bout this way, scoring a film is one of the hardest things in the industry. thats why theres a industry for just that. you have to think bout it this way when you listen to music sometimes can't you visualize a image. well they actually have to compose music for a picture. so its not as easy as you think its not being a sell out.

At the end of the day, what's wrong with making a bit of money, as long as that's not all you produce your music for then that's cool.

That makes PvD a sell out 2 for doing the score to Zurdo, the Mexican flick??? Anyways BT ownz, and no matter what he produces, it will still be quality.

Is it just me or has the intelligence level dropped somewhat in these forums??

bump for burpee

right on hadi.....but there is some shit music out there...grunge for example.

and anybody who things trance is some bullshit midi file is a fucking idiot. I see it as the classical symphonies of the 21'st century. I mean compare it to classical masterpieces....its relaxing, melodic, emotional, little or no vocals, and its relaxing - did i say that already?

sorry but no where near as complex as some classical pieces. Its more comparible to instrumental rock if anything repeating rhythm pattern with melodies and chorus over top of it...

Posted by hrach on Jul-22-2003 02:40:

yes frost, electronica started out that way....repeating rhythms with superimposed melodies, but if you notice it has been getting more and more complex lately. when I listen to some of my old stuff, its very basic as far as the number of synthesized instuments/melodies/beats. It is becomming more and more complex though...take for example sasha's airdrawndagger. Before we blow this up into a huge argument over miscommunication, please do understand that I am not saying trance is as sophisticated or complex as classical music. I'm just saying that trance is like the classical music of a modern era.

i love BT's productions. i like him as a producer. i never liked him as a person.

Posted by fr0st on Jul-22-2003 03:12:

What allowed electronic music to become what it is today is the arpeggiator. I bet over 75percent of all the artist out there lack classical training. And therefor are unable to create more complicated pieces.

Why not man!?
He's the fucking greatest!!!!!!

Posted by Clyde77 on Jul-22-2003 03:53:

cuz he thinks he's god when he talks esp during interviews. maybe he's head got bigger bcuz alot of ppl like him, and more esp cuz he hates oakenfold and talks shit about him all the time. he's a great producer tho. ihave godspeed, mercury and solace, dreaming, & dreaming. they're all beauty. its just his personality that bothers me.

dont flame me now.

Posted by Theotrope on Jul-22-2003 03:53:

Yeah, he's a really fucking nice guy, and his girlfriend is super cool too.

bt dislikes oakenfold because oakenfold is a cock.. why do you think bt left perfecto? oaky wanted him to sell out.

heheh

as far as the bt thing, hes just using the man's vocals. Nothing wrong with that. now if he remixed Nsync's song "Bye bye bye" thats a different story. Although id be curious on wat it sounds like.

woah woah woah. not another oakenfold bashing thread. I am a huge fan of both BT and Oakenfold. What they have between them is their business.

i dont htink oakenfold was mentioned in a bad way in this thread. and true, whatever they want to do with their music is their own thing. it is THEIR music, not ours.

I think everyone needs to be on the same page as to what they mean by the term "sell-out."

To me, selling out is a producer being paid massive amounts of money and either not putting their all into their craft or creating music for other people's liking but not their own. They eventually forget where they came from and release sub-par music. They simply live off their name for the money. This usually happens with one-hit wonders in order to keep making money or with prepackaged commercial garbage like Britney and J-Lo. Positive K is a sellout. Tone Loc is a sellout.

Is BT sellout? Not to me. To me, he's producing music he wants to produce. Although not only has he produced tracks for NSYNC, he also produced tracks for Britney Spears (You take out the vocals, they're not bad at all). But BT releasing his own album shows that he is making music he WANTS to create. It doesn't make him a sellout if he has access to some of the best vocalists in the world or if he feels the vocals of a commercial artist are what best fits into a track he made.

Posted by Floorfiller on Jul-22-2003 16:44:

as far as BT making this tune...haven't heard it, but in agreement that BT can do what he wants. even if i don't like it at a later point, I'll still like BT overall...he is one of the originals.

as far as the armin not making a film score...i'm sorry, but he isn't good enough to make a film score at the moment. i'm sure he hasn't been asked so its not like he's had a chance, but i wouldn't want to hear a film score by him simply because he lacks the diversity in his sound that others have.
