Exclamation

good luck... Armin's a cool cat. He'll prob only stop by for about 45 mins or so then head on, depends on what he has planned before the show. In Chicago the promoter was taking him and David Lewis to a nice restraunt to relax and enjoy Chicago for a bit then head to the show to play. We scheduled our meetup @ 8pm and he didn't show until 9:30 because he was resting from a 13 hour flight from Istanbul. I had to bail at 9:45 b/c I was opening... so I didn't really have time to chat with him but here are some pics from the meetup and night...

I say somewhere asian everyone loves that kinda food especially armin.

Posted by DaveT on Oct-06-2003 16:48:

I agree Asian (Japanese) food would be nice because of Armin's taste...but be warned, this is San Francisco and finding a place like this that's not crowded and cramped on a Friday evening will be very, very hard.

I've looked around for all kinds of places with a couple miles of 1015 that could certainly hold a good sized group of people for one sitting, and every thing I read on them had the same complaints. Small seating spaces, lagging service (because of it being so busy), very cramped, and noisey (not including Blowfish or Sushi Groove South, which has DJs as a part of its atmosphere).

why dont u pick a place hten dave?
your the one thats probably closest to the area and knows it most well

i trust your judgement

Yeah, trust me judgement in the end...the guy who hates sushi. Anyhow, I will ask around. But I don't think I've ever seen a slow Sushi joint on a Friday evening

Dave

OK, I've already received quite a few responses...and they all basically say that we are basically SOL for getting a Sushi place that can hold a decent sized party on a Friday night near 1015.

One person I know (who is also a promoter) says that for a Friday, he can really only recommend getting a mainstream place like Chevy's if we need to hold a party of 20 or so....I have a feeling this thing could turn out to be pretty big - as in, bigger than most other ones. I could have a good sized entourage coming with me, although I dunno yet.

As these dinners with Armin continue, word is spreading far beyond these boards.

Hello! AvB Dinner

Peek-a-boo Dave! Thought I'd post here for fun.

Yep, I'm in on the dinner - I'm pretty sure that you won't be able to nab a place that's close by (with decent fish) for such a large group, but I'll do some research too.

Posted by DaveT on Oct-06-2003 23:31:

The lurker speakeths here for once

Posted by cookypuss1 on Oct-06-2003 23:34:

Yeah, I almost never post here because there's so much going on, I just can't keep up. The 1015 board (and sometimes the Spundae board) are just right for me.

I know what you mean...I had to slowly work my way into these boards. Was at like .02 posts per day at a point, now almost at 1 post per day!

maybe we should do it at chevys cuase... chevys rocks
we could load up on freechips for hours if armin decides to come late
heh heh heh heh

Posted by DaveT on Oct-07-2003 06:06:

Well, there is one on the corner of 3rd and Howard. So three blocks east, and one block north (Howard is one block north parallel to Folsom). It is a pretty big one.

Nov 8...two days after PvD :|

Just watch the SF Events thing I try to keep up...if there's something good going on, I tend to go. Usually end up running into all the 1015 Forum junkies (myself included) and hanging with them...fun bunch to be around.

And I wonder why I'm always broke! :!!!!!

No, sorry. Owe the government money, taking a lot of plans away.

If I can save up real quick, thinking about going to Crasher NEC in England, though...end of November. Can get roundtrip tickets for a measly $330, and should be able to find a friends in London and Birmingham I can crash with

Dave

Dude, why go to England when Crasher's imo best resident DJ will be here in SoCal at RED on Nov 14? I'm talking about Scott Bond!!! w00t w00t and there deffinately will be an afterhours party with Scott. He loves to party with us REDsters. and if you are into breakbeats, ELITE FORCE will be at RED same night in the Breaks room, w00t w00t!!!

No, no, you are thinking of the one in the Embarcadero Center....

This one is MUCH closer. 3rd & Howard - Maybe a 10-12 minute walk from 1015...or about a 3-4 minute walk from my work (I work on 2nd & Howard)...5 minute walk from 111 Minna, too.

Chevys Fresh Mex
San Francisco 3rd & Howard
201 3rd Street
San Francisco, Ca 94105
415-543-8060

See the map (A = Chevys , B = 1015)

Ok i think we should call and make a reservation because chevy's can be rather busy.

What time are we meeting any idea?
