"pride is mans greatest weakness"..hear hear, i believe this forum aptly demonstrates the truth behind such a wise saying. I have dual citizenship. I am a US citizen and a Panamanian citizen also. The fact that 90% of the U.S. does not even know where the Republic of Panama is, (or that it even exists) is usually hard to believe, but its sadly true. (perhaps not 90%, but you would be SURPRISED).
Even the poorest panamanian citizen knows about the U.S.
Anyways, everybody really needs to just take a breath...look around, and question why the hell you guys are being dicks to each other, .. its absolutely ridiculous when looked at from the 3rd person. But to participate in this thread im going to have to say that yes U.S. costumes can be very obnoxious and rude, but to say that all costum managers in the U.S. are pricks is absolutely re-fucking-diculous. I have never really had any problems with costumes in the U.S. even though my sister was detained and questioned in miami intl. (for living overseas with an american citizenship, sheesh)...I have been detained in schipol airport in amsterdam every single time that i have left it, but honestly it doesnt bother me. seeing how everybody treats each other in stupid ass threads like these makes me glad im not patriotic. fuck it, no use. proceed with the flames.

I am travelling a lot (business and private) and I must say that US customs are among the worst. They were always bad, but since 9/11 it's absurd. Last year when I flew to Denver to go climbing in the Tetons with friends I had big problems to get in the country because of my climbing gear (and I didn't even bring my ice axe or anything else that could look dangerous). This spring I had big problems again to get through customs at JFK because there is a five year old Lebanon visa in my passport (business trip). And I'm Swiss.
As of next year, we will probably need a visa to enter the US, because there are no biometric features in our passport. To get a visa, we need to personally travel to the US embassy in Bern to apply. Costs you at least a day and a lot of money.
I have a friend working in a travel agency where she is responsible for the US and Canada. They expect that almost nobody from here will travel to the US anymore. Fortunately there are many good other places in the world to travel to.
