(IMO) He cares about the people, the music, everything he does is amazing. One thing in particular that shows just how great a guy he is are the events he's done for charity. I don't know of any other dj's that would be willing to give up money out of their own pocket like that. What other dj's can come anywhere close to the excitement he creates? I mean yeah there are close seconds but nobody better....not by far! Underated! :e: |
Ummm...I photochopped it from the pics you posted
Heh, it's been there for a few months, you never noticed? I can't believe you cut the same! haha One of my favorite pics of him, you took that?
:e:

starfox (and us others) kept the spirit and awaited the ownage
I agree PVD is a damn good DJ. But having seen him and had the chance to compare his set to others I have heard he doesn't strike me as being anything really special in the way that some people describe (That's done it... the gasoline has been thrown onto the fire). From a technical point, one of the best DJs I have ever seen is Fergie (Love or hate the music he plays) and that kid also knows how to move a crowd. If you ever get the chance to see him go and watch some of the stuff he does with the eqs etc. Ferry Corsten knows how to interact with crowds and tends to loose the plot but in a good way. Push is just awesome. And how about Mr Tiesto?
From a personal point of view, I always find the stuff PVD plays to give the feeling of something being held back, and in that respect it just frustrates me. Perhaps it's because I like my trance a little harder?
No doubt I will get flamed to death but hey... what's life without a little friendly banter?
At the end of the day I know we all like different things and respect that but just wanted to put my thoughts into the thread.
All the best

all i have to say is: "NOTHING BUT YOU, PAUL!!!!!!!"
ok let us put paul as #1 dj in the world this year...what do you say?
I agree with jploveparade. Man I wish i can see him. but he never comes to La [very rarely]. [ i want to see him ]
Hey Umes23
Thanks for the post. And yes you are right you do need to see DJs in different situations to really know what they are made of. I have been around long enough to know quality when I see it. But I also know that PVD doesn't do it for me (as I said, I have seen him play)and it is purely my opinion (as I seem to be the only one)
Enjoy anyways
Cheers

PS
By the way, can anyone confirm the existance of some stupid cabbaret licence law in the state of NY? Apparently it's not legal to dance at a club unless they have the correct licence due to some law from the 1920s (something related to prohibition), it started being reinforced because of Mayor Guiliani's dislike for nightlife.

those WERE the BEST NIGHTS. but pvd never disappoints me.... i even enjoyed ultra despite the skipping disaster, i just wish his set wasnt so damn short.
i think pvd does deserve the # 1 spot. problem is its a poll of opiions and i disagree w/ most everything that comes out of the rankings. people that bother to vote obviously see it differently.
but there are those who dont give a shit about the rankings and know hes the best. i think it was awesome, despite all the talent that preceeded him (including the people voted higher), they called HIM the main event of ultra 03. fuck yah.

I KNOW Paul's position on drugs for a fact. He is only human, he is far from perfect and he is not a GOD so stop putting him on a pedestal. "Paul van Dyk" is a contrived media image and Paul the person is completely different to that. Don't get me wrong - I love Paul but it frustrates me that you guys talk about him as if you know him cause you don't. |
