Lightbulb Just in case someone doesn't know...

Anyone here ever had a coldsore on your lips?... yeah? Well guess what... Chances are you've got the herpes virus!! (Most Probably HSV-1) .
In your case it's called "oral herpes" for obvious reasons - if you give your partner oral sex while you have a coldsore, you may pass the virus onto them giving them "genital herpes"... so herpes is even more common than you might think... (I read somewhere that 80% of people oer 50 are infected).

Have a nice day

Be Cool!

OK this is messed up. Theres his hot chick i know who used to talk to me about everything and she was constantly telling me about her medical problems. I know i saw a little herpy on her once and she said she might have goneria. I keep telling her to goto the doc and she always said no im afraid. I offered to go with her once but she got all embarrassed. Any way her "symptoms" went away and one night Steve, Kris(the std chick) and i were all drinking and she kept commin on to me. I told her to piss off. This got my friend Steve mad at me cuz hes a ladies man. He started comforting her. At that point i was goin crazy i didnt want my friend to catch anything and knowing him hed sleep with her. Any way he got really pissed at me and knocked me out with a small chair cuz i was yelling at him to stop. Basically he took her to his place and they fuked all night. 2 months later the guy called me up crying his ass off telling me that he got herpes on his mouth and genitals and goneriah. I havent talked to Kris ever since.

I feel like it was my fault cuz i should have told him about it but i didnt want to tell him with her right there. Plus i was quite drunk at the time so I wasnt makin much sense anyway.

MORAL OF THE STORY! IF U KNOW SHE/HES DIRTY KNOCK YOUR FRIENDS OUT BEFORE THEY KNOCK U OUT.

although i'm tempted, i won't flame you for your ignorance because nobody knows everything.

gay people did not "start" AIDS, the HIV virus that causes AIDS developed in africa. it developed from transmissions between humans and monkeys but was only virulent to humans. some theories hypothesize that HIV is a mutation of the ebola virus. monkeys are not harmed when they are infected with the HIV virus.

comparison: rats carried the plague all the hell over europe during the middle ages and it was transmitted to humans when fleas that had bitten infected rats bit a human. no one knows why it didn't kill rats and was so devastating to humans, but it's the same deal with HIV between monkeys and humans.

if i have anything wrong here, please correct me because i went on memory and didn't double check anything.

MrS

as a matter of fact, it is not allowed in some schools and any program that receives federal money is forbidden to teach any method of birth control besides abstinence. teachers are not allowed to teach students that condoms prevent STDs. let's everyone thank our president bush for this one.

somehow i feel this is more of a discussion for the political debate forum. see ya there, MrS

edit: the federal government does not tell state schools that they cannot teach safe sex. it just tells them that they will not receive any federal funding if they do teach safe sex and what public school can afford that?
thanks occrider

Your post is somewhat misleading. Although stupid Bush has been pushing his retarded abstinence program on states by offering them federal funds for enticement, four federal statutes (The Department of Education Organization Act (Section 103a), the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (Section 14512), Goals 2000 (Section 319 (b), and the General Education Provisions Act (Section 438)) all prohibit the federal government from dictating state and local school curriculum standards. Thus being the federalist state that we are, the states have full control over what sex education programs their schools teach. So if Alabama wants to be as backwards as they want to be, we can't stop them ... oh well live and let live.

Edit: I just noticed your sig "I'm actually a woman and not too hard to look at" Hehe I like that line.

absolutely, the federal government cannot tell state school what to teach, but it can with hold funding if things do not go the way they want. i didn't make the connection clear enough in my earlier post, i'm going to edit it and explain here: if the federal government doesn't like what is being taught in schools (i.e. safe sex), it simply with holds funding. public schools are in such a sad state right now that they have no choice but to be purse-string puppets

bush has a similar thing going with international aid groups. the federal government will not fund any aid groups that counsel women on abortion and suggest it as an option, regardless of whether the group actually performs abortions.

The original bill put forth by congress provides additional funding for schools' sex education program if they teach abstinence. So it's not so much a cut in funding that the federal gov't provides in other educational areas so much as it is some schools do not get their sex education programs funded by the federal government. Which does suck for poor schools, the ones likely to need comprehensive programs the most.

Yea that was a pretty retarded move. At least the Africa aids package covers contraceptives as a method of aids prevention.

actually i have a lot of admiration for you. on the political board, yours are about the only ones i'll read thoroughly because they're researched, thought out and considered. just about everyone else has passionate biases (and many for good reason) and a flagrant blindness to "the other side."

i am now going to wander TA while blushing...

edit: i meant the "typical" comment as a compliment

I'll also add that there are different strains of HIV, which suggests that HIV has been introduced (crossed over the species barrier) into the human population more than once... 3 times i think? HIV-A HIV-B and HIV-C. I dunno, it was brought up in one of my 1st year biology lectures.

And the reason why HIV and AIDS is so damaging to the human population is because it takes a LONG time for it to kill its host. This allows the virus time to spread, and now the whole world has this problem.

On the other hand, a more "lethal" and contagious virus, such as ebola, which quickly kills its host and is transmitted by bodily fluids, is easier to control and contain, since the hosts die off within two weeks: not enough time for it to spread.

I guess AIDS became such a huge epidemic for the gay population because of their high-risk sexual behaviours.

well, there's that and the fact that the HIV virus mutates like almost nothing else. it's always changing so once the antibodies get out of the lag phase for one mutation, the virus already changed enough that the antibodies can't recognize it. if you haven't done the antibody recognition and lag/log phases of an immune response you'll get it soon enough if you're majoring in bio.
