Second bass delay

Hi wich vst delay you use in the second bass (ticks) left and right channel.
Thanx

Posted by Sean Walsh on Feb-02-2004 19:04:

I don't use any VST Delays, I just use something called the PanzerDelay which is a simple machine used for Buzz. I would imagine that any delay out there could replicate it though, it just echoes every 2 ticks on the left channel and every 3 ticks on the right channel.

Nice tips sean!!!
You can also layer sounds with fewer VSTi's using sends. Processing the different spectrum parts separately.

Cut everything above 80Hz compress it and normalize to 0dB. I'm sure it will blow your speakers.

wow theres some quality tips in this thread. just managed to sit and read it and im going straight back to bass lines now!

Posted by Sean Walsh on Feb-02-2004 20:27:

Heheh this is a pretty old thread now, I could probably make a cleaner version of it and make it a little more "pro" sounding, but the underlying concepts should be the same.

Sean you put :

Next we have the part that gives the richness/fullness to the bass. This is echoed with a 2 tick delay on the left channel and 3 tick delay on the right. A highpass filter is run over this cutting everything below 650hz, thereby allowing the notes to echo to your hearts desire without making it sound like shit and have bass everywhere. This was used with the VoidSynthII that comes standard with buzz, with small tweaks to one of the presets on it.

What program should I be using to use this filter? Is it part of the VSTi or should it be done in Cubase? I have been having a look through various tutorials today and they all mention filtering certain parts of the sound. I have had a quick play in Reason but am a bit lost to be honest. Should I be using special software just to do the filtering / EQing?

Any help greatfully appreciated!

Subtractor has highpass filter.

In Cubase use sends. Send the VSTi output to 2 fx channels. One for subs, other for that delay. EQ has cut functions so u can cut highs for sub and lows for that delay effect.

Again, I'm using a simple highpass filter built-in to Buzz, pretty much the simplest form of filter you can get. Any production software you're using should have something comparable to it, but I can't help you as I haven't played around with anything other than Buzz and Logic.

Thanx Sean I use fruity and there is the panzerdelay but i have a problem i set delayunit to ticks, and when i change the delaylen he starts from 1 when i move a little it go direct to +-100 so is 100 maybe 1 tick,200 2tick,... Because i cant not set it to 2 or 3,
Thanx,
Enfusia

Posted by Sean Walsh on Feb-02-2004 22:41:

Ah right, fruity has a lot of the same stuff as Buzz in it doesn't it. K well if it's like buzz, then just slide it over to 1, then press the Right Arrow key on your keyboard and that should move it in units of length 1. Another thing you can do is click on it and then press the Enter Key, which will allow you to just type in what value you set it to.

Posted by enfusia on Feb-02-2004 22:49:

Yep fruity has a buzz generator and effects adapter in where i can load buzz gen & fx, ok thanx for help im still a newbie im gonna test this out. GreeTz Enfusia.

can anyone post up the midis for these files??

Posted by Sean Walsh on Mar-10-2004 16:34:

You really, really shouldn't need the midis for the examples posted. It's in your best interest to hack the sequence out yourself, as that will help you dissect basslines in the future.

Hold down control when clicking the slider/knob/etc... in fruity and you can fine tune the settings...

us amateurs find it very difficult to try and make a sound without trying to recreate the midi

Posted by Sean Walsh on Mar-11-2004 01:43:

I'm an amateur, and I didn't have a midi to work with when I posted this tutorial.

That's not the samples we are after. This thread is about ATRC AvB remix bass.
