A lot of Universities have canceled classes for the remainder of the week due to the hurricane now.

The ones i know of are in VA only.. i dont know about other states.

William & Mary, Mary Washington and Old Dominion universities have all closed..

like Daffodil said earlier..."i think we're ready for this one! now if one the university would cancel class..."

i wish our school would close but we have a perfect track record of never closing, not even in blizzard like conditions

only 4 bottles of wine were new purchases. i'm not sure if that makes me and my roommates appear to be any less alcoholic, but that was my goal.

I live across the street from a bar . I doubt work will be cancelled though

i laugh my ass off every time i see that in your sig on the glow forum! such good stuff where do you go to school? i know vsu is closed through monday (in addition to the schools you listed) and pretty much all county and city schools have canceled classes.

remember the snow we had last year? i think we might have gotten out of class one day during second semester because pretty much all of the professors said they weren't coming in.

do you mean route 37?

i dont think its gonna hit us at all, nothing ever happens in Central Jersey, besides heavy rain we're still gonna be going to our school (im just saying this because i hope its gonna be otherwise )

looks like it keeps moving west!!! not good for Pittsburgh!!!

Posted by vtec junkie on Sep-18-2003 05:42:

i figured id post this map also. its amazing how powerful mother nature is to create a storm half the size of north america

Posted by Mebot on Sep-18-2003 06:00:

Yeah thats true, reminds me of the Perfect Storm. No not the movie, the book by Sebastian Junger. I know the movie is based off the book, but I read that book and it gives a lot more detail, not only about the deep-sea fishing industry but Junger also desrribes different weather patterns and fronts that sailors use to judge safe seas.

I highly recommend this book if u want to learn more about this and if u want to know what drowning really feels like... theres a couple pages in it that atually goes in second by second replay of what happens when someone drowns.. its pretty interesting IMO. Im not sadistic or anything..but it really makes u think about it a little more. When i was reading it i found myself holding my breath just to see how long I would last if i was underwater....

ok sorry for threadjacking.. stream of consious writing will be the death of me yet

what were we talkin about?
oh yeah Hurricane Isabel.. Boo Hurricanes! yay trance!
