Can't wait to see him here for NY!!

Firstly, this is an opinion forum about EDM. Anyone can say whatever they'd like to as long as it doesn't threaten others.

Secondly, it doesn't make me feel "cool" or "special" to say the things that I did because I used to be a very big fan of his.

I agree with this.

There's only about 2 or 3 songs on PVD's latest album that I find listenable. Reflections is garbage compared to 76 or especially In My Memory or airdrawndagger. No offense to PVD fans. He can mix breaks very well!

I saw him live in June and he was good. His set had great flow and it wasn't too techy. Then I downloaded his EM set from Amensia, absolutly terrible. His track selection is nowhere near what it use to be.....

If he's voted the #1 Dj again then people should be really venture out and listen to some other dj's. If they did, they'd realize Tiesto isn't the world's best.....

The amnesia set is the one I'm talking about that was so awful. I guess he's very hit and miss these days. When I saw him in May I had fun, but it was not anywhere near his level of a few years ago.

That's also what I'm trying to say about listening to other DJs. There are many better ones out there who can give you the same feeling you crave.

-Let me also add I'm not trying to be like those people that just slag him for the fun of it. I realize I've done that to a small degree, but I will only make constructive posts (like this one) from now on.

again, 1. i'am going to say. i'am not putting him down..please read my reasons in my second post. 2. just because i don't hail tiesto as the #1 dj anylonger, doesn't make me a "ignorant ass rangers" hahaha and what is an ignorant ass ranger anyways? 3. I HAVE A FUCKING LIFE!!! RELAX!!!

Exactly. Tiesto is my #1 dj. Armin and Ferry don't even make it to my Top 50, they are just not artists of the calibre that Tijs is. PvD is very high up for me because of his mixing, but I'll take a Tiesto set over a PvD one any day because I prefer the Dutch sound.

Dave, which Amnesia set are you talking about? He plays there every week. Please don't tell me you're talking about the 7-27 one, that set is a masterpiece.

edit: yeah the EM is not that good, but mainly because of Radio 1's bad quality recording. That set is not as beautifully constructed as the 7-27 one, with those breaks at the beginning and all.

Hmmm yea, good to vote him number 1 DJ because of his productions

If only they had all actually come out

You have got to be fukin shitting me!!!

armins done so much like wot?????

hes played on an internet radio show every week and done some livesets??

his album was ok nothing special, i mean dont get me wrong i think armins very very good but i dont see wot all of you are talking about when u say hes done so much.

maybe just my opinion but i find him and ferry really really boring now. they play a couple of tracks then a few more that sound exactly the same(not literally but u no wot i mean lol) i mean yes when i listen to some of tijs sets i think ohh i wudnt have done that or played that track there that belonged at the start or wotever but it suprises you gives the set a slight change in direction.

i think this year tiesto has definatly been the hardest working, best producing(i no its a dj poll, not a producers one!) and has mixed some of the best livesets of the year dont forget about the hundreds we never hear like the one in amnesia where he finished with andain beautiful things(photon project remix) my friend was there and he said it was the best live set hes ever heard and he doesnt even like tiesto that much hes a big pvd fan! he said tijs blew pvd away!

so to cut all that short i think tiesto definatly does deserve no.1 again this year for all his hard work, his hectic schedule that in the summer saw him almost collapse at the space afterparty! thats dedication!

No wonder that TRAFFIC was made by mistake ! sounds like a 2 second production and now i understand why ! the worst tune of the year IMO and i think ppl "LOVE" this track only because it was made by tijs !! If it werent his no one would have noticed this garbage !!! Thats my opinion anyway ....

i would bet my whole life you would never make a tune as good as traffic in 2 seconds or by "mistake"...just my opinion

What is so good about this track , this track does not evolve , it is just a banging tune with no direction at all. Banging tunes are OK but it has to have some direction and art put into it !

Good Tunes is Def. not Traffic ! Good Tunes are tracks like Mind Circles , LNG- Intercity , ATRC, Skylab, Beachball , burned with desire, For an angel etc.... Can u honestly say that TRAFFIC comes even near these Tracks !>??? I think Not.
This is my opinion anyway

By the way it's not that hard to produce a track like TRAFFIC it sounds the same throughout all the track ! Even tiesto admits it was a mistake but all the "TIESTO ADDICTS" thought this track was a masterpeice because it was "different". Different is excellent and creating new genres is also great but not Crappy Genres that Traffic has made ......

The only good cooment i have on tiesto this year was The TIC concert and Nyana Cd 2. His other live sets dont give me the goosebumbs they used to like 2-3 years ago ! - The Magikal Days and ISOS Days !

THOSE WERE THE DAYS !!!

again, This is just my opinion !

I kinda like traffic. Its very techy i think.

LOL, kids are funny. Traffic is a brilliant, original, and extremely effective DANCEFLOOR track that shows once again the high level of sofistication and evolution in Tiesto's work as an artist. The fact that he did this for fun makes this even more evident. The track is minimal, not simple in any form or way. It has a very subtle but obvious direction in terms of harmonic/melodic development throughout the piece. Only a few prog djs can match this level of musical complexity. The harmonic layering and the process in which new voices are added in counterpoint to the bassline creates a somber, dark ambiance of tension leading into a pattern of highly intense harmonic cadences that do wonders in the dancefloor. Shit, even PvD is playing this. Last time I saw PvD this was by far the track that got the biggest response from the crowd.

You probably don't have a clue about technicisms in production, because the synthetization in Traffic and the quality of sound engineering in it is absolutely mindblowing. I remember the last time I saw Tiesto live I ran into a respected dnb producer and this is the track that had him thinking for days. Tiesto is doing wonders with his Access Virus and his sound engineer is also helping him out a lot. Damn, even the UKTAs that usually hate Tiesto loved this track since they first heard in that rip of the TMF awards last April.

If you think you can do something as good as Traffic or better help yourself and show it to me. Traffic is by far my favorite track this year, and I feel very proud saying that.

I haven't heard Traffic played out live, yet.. But it's just a catchy track, there's no real substance to it... You can't really compare to say Suburban Train or Obsession, which I think are his best works.

I second that, even though he gave us a sub par performance here in Houston. From What Ive heard on the net Oakey has been ripping it up.

Posted by brian on Sep-17-2003 23:11:

I didn't like Traffic at first, but it's one of those tunes that sort of grows on you after a while. When I first listened to the sample on DanceGrooves my first thought was that it was pretty dull. But the more I hear it, the more I like it.

Certainly not his best at all -- doesn't even come close. But it makes you wonder how much better it would have been if he had devoted a lot more time to it.

bleh, i think traffic is a good track, you don't, no point in debating because there is no right answer...we'll just end it at that

Posted by mto on Sep-18-2003 01:53:

Not flaming, but... Armin needs respect for his album??? He needs a good whack in the head, thats what he needs. Album stunk. I dunno, but Armin is so cheesy to me. His original work aims too much towards being uplifting to the point where it becomes cheesy. However i do like Wait For You (Song for the ocean). That's the only original and solo track of his that i like besides Communication.

Traffic is a good track considering that he didnt spend much time on it.. but then again I agree it would have been really gr8 had he spent more time on it..
