I started out in like 95 with some industrial stuff and some other electronic music. The Chems and Prodigy and Crystal Method came along with many others that I listened to a lot. I listened to almost all genres of EDM.

My first trance cd might be 'Trance Europe Express'. It came with this nice thick booklet with lots of info on the artists on the album. Had stuff like The Orb, Cosmic Baby, Spooky, Barbarella, System 7, and so on. Really good stuff. It also had a little section on Berlin and had a pic of young lad with orange-dyed hair named Paul van Dyk. Little did I know at the time that he would become one of my favorite DJ's in a few years.

In 2000 I bought PvD's Out There and Back. That really brought me more into trance. I started to listen mainly to trance and progressive from that point on.

Hi,

I have been a DJ since the late 80's and have a lot of early trance.
I really started getting into it around 1993-1994. The music got really weird between 80's retro and early trane. The period of say 1990 to 1993 we called Rave or so it was called in Europe. I could probably help you get your hands on some of the older classic trance if you are interested let me know. Currently I have some good newer Trance, House, and other stuff posted on my site www.dj_madness.djcentral.com, check it out or. Nice mixed sets there, quite a few of them to dating back to 1999. I had some older sets posted but deleted them to make room for the newer ones. Anyway I hope I can be of help.

Keep On Jamming

And he re-released it again in 1996 or there abouts.

He complains now that he is too readily associated with cars, but if he hadnt released it about 5 times he wouldnt have anything to moan about.

Ive been in to EDM since 1993/1994 or so, as well as other music.

Started serious listening to trance mid 2001.

Posted by shadis on Sep-18-2003 15:06:

since '98 when i heard universal nation and the 3n1 mix of cafe del mar

but earlier than that i had already been listening to prodigy / fatboy slim

Posted by robootz on Sep-18-2003 15:21:

Been listening to trance since 2000.

But i listened to a lot of eurodance when i was younger (mid-90's), so i guess it all started back then.

www.post-countplusone.com????

anyway, i started listening to alice deejay in 1999

Posted by Maria TR909 on Sep-18-2003 16:56:

except for a handful everyone is fairly new to trance......... Interesting.

in Ny the only people left over from yester year are people who work in the industry...... I find that the party people just grow out of it.

Posted by pfunk on Sep-18-2003 17:07:

mid 90's with orbital ...
and it became a way of life in 99

Me tooo! It gets so boring listening to the same thing over and over.

I'm only 19, but I've been listening to "electronic music" since about 1995/96 with prodigy, chem brothers, orbital, crystal meathod etc. I got into trance in 2000, and progressive house/ tibal etc. house only fairly recently.

Posted by kr00t0n on Sep-18-2003 17:49:

Ever since I heard Binary Finary - 1998 (PvD) in November 1998

I did kinda start off with classics from the years before at that point, generally from 95 upwards

Drifted into hard house in 2000, came back to trance end of 2001, been here firmly since, but I do like tracks in pretty much every genre

I guess I started listening to electronic music at an age of 7 or so...that was back in 1991 when Culture Beat had their "Mr.Vain" out

few years later I started listening to trance and my mind opened more and more towards other music styles (something many of you guys still need to learn )

Posted by Xer0 on Sep-18-2003 18:38:

Back in 2001 when I first got my Dance eJay 2. Started listening to "pop" club and techno (darude, alice deejay, kernkraft 400), then finally got into trance early this year.

Summer of 1999 I bought my first Trance cd, The Mix Afterhours by David Padilla. That led downloading everything I can find on Napster. Which led to downloading Oakenfold at Gatecrasher, which led to buying Tranceport, which is when I became all out tranceaddict.

I remember listening to Power96(Miami) on a saturday night and they were playing trance. They played the song Kaycee - Escape and actually said the name of the song when they played it. I remembered that, went to store next week, found the cd, The Mix, which had it, bought it. The Mix is still one of my favorite cd's ever.
