Okay since I was involved with the transmitter, and the putting up our new antenna i'll let you know right now that we do NOT broadcast at 100kilowatts, as that is a lot of power and only superduper commercial stations get that

WUVT-FM is FCC licensed as a 3.5 kilowatt station, our antenna is good for 5kw but the current transmitter is only good for 3-3.5kw depending on how its workin that day.

yeah i didnt know what the actual number was till later, so when i made that post i kind of just pulled that number outta my ass..

but dano's right we're not a super-station..we have a range of about...hmmm 30-40 miles when the transmitter is at full peak? Again im basing the miles on places we've had callers from..(i think all the way up in Roanoke (which is about 35 miles away from Tech)

if im wrong about this , dan'll let u know

Thanks Ryan, i forgot to metion that your range estimate was correct despite the power being off. WUVT does reach up into Roanoke in some areas, you can get it in the parking lot of the Roanoke Civic Center, that i am sure of.

Because of all the hills and other radio stations in the southwest VA area, the signal doesn't really form much of a circle, so its going out various distances in each direction, i believe it goes out to the west and south a pretty fair distance. Also, if you go to the fcc website you can look up the contour maps of any fcc licensed radio station, if anyone is that interested.
