keep the suggestions coming. The more the merrier. We must keep in mind the ppl that are under so places such as bars wouldnt be a good idea. . . unless they let unders in.

the two suggestions i have in mind are:

cafe asia
Fuddruckers

and keep the list coming!!

Ah hell yeah Fuddruckers!!! they got Emu-burgers there ! so GOOD!!

Oh man, that already sounds like a funny story!

There couldn't be a better place for meeting than Cafe Asia! If you love sushi, you won't be disappointed! There's a lot more to Cafe Asia than sushi though. You can also enjoy more tasty Japanese cuisine, as well as Chinese and Southeast Asian cuisine. I'm really partial to the Thai-style curries and the Indonesian dishes!

Last but not least, Cafe Asia has happy hour from 5:30 pm till 7:30 pm every day. Happy hour includes $1 sushi rolls and Sapporo beer! Even without happy hour, there's good beer (mmm...Singha!) and liquor selection to keep you happy!

I really cannot comment on the Cafe Asia restaurant in D.C., but I will check out at some point. In the meantime, I strongly recommend Cafe Asia in Arlington.

As far as Asian beers go, I like Kirin Ichiban the best.

I couldnt have explained it any better For those of u who just wanna eat light and not something heavy before Glow, cafe asia is great.

Posted by beema on Sep-26-2003 19:52:

sounds like we've picked a spot...
if anyone has any problems with Cafe Asia, speak now or forever hold your peace
I think the Arlington location is best...easy access from 395/495, 66, etc. Plus out of towners get lost easily in DC. I still get lost there occasionally
now we just have to make sure everyone knows how to get there and pick a time...

Posted by candypink on Sep-26-2003 20:07:

sounds like fun...i'd like to meet some of you since i just joined this board it doesn't matter to me where we go...i'll manage to get lost no matter what! (i usually find my way eventually though.

i second that. I'll wait another week or so to finalize the list so we can go ahead and make reservations.

For those of u coming from out of town and are unsure of making ur way around the city, dont be bashful and let us know. List where u are coming from and someone from TA can at least meet u some place and you can follow them. Everyone gets lots one point or another.

Also, meetup will be EARLY. Early as in something like 7:30-8 pm. I think thatll give us enough time to eat and socialize till about 9ish so we can all find parking in DC and get IN LINE @ glow. We all know what the line is like when PVD comes to town. . . HORRENDOUS.

And perhaps for those of u who would like to meet up a lil earlier to take advantage of the happy hour special, thatll be cool too. Just let it be known

This all seems a bit early, but at least we all can make proper arrangements.

Keep the list going.

Cheers.

only thing i'd like to point out is that several people have been insistent on the place providing alcohol, me included. but if we're going to be all the way out in arlington, we need to arrange for the people who want to drink to not have to drive. i have a very serious problem with drinking and driving and arlington is a solid 10-15 from glow, on the highway and through the city.

if there's not going to be any drinking and driving, the place looks and sounds fantastic.

yeah i'm def not feelin this idea, i'll just see ya'll there!!!

May I suggest meeting a little earlier, as in 6:30-7 pm? I'm sure some people will want to take advantage of the happy hour. Bear in mind Cafe Asia can get quite busy on Saturday nights. By the time we are done with dinner, we'll have more time to find parking near Insomnia. I'm sure that it will work better this way.

I'm sure most people aren't going to get trashed at Cafe Asia. A beer or two with dinner isn't going to hurt anyone.

And one more thing...Rosslyn is less than 5 minutes away from DC!

thats a good idea. I certainly dont mind meeting up early because i dont like to be rushed. But i certainly doubt ill be sitting at the bar the whole night

Last time I checked, you don't have to be at the bar to enjoy the sushi happy hour. Besides, the bar at Cafe Asia is a bit on the small side.

just like to be on the safe side. and rosslyn is on the southwestern side, glow is more northeast. anyway, it's all a bit too early for me so i doubt i'll make it. have fun!

getting from my house to Glow takes at most 8 minutes (excluding any possible traffic)
Rosslyn is even closer than my house to DC...

when we leave Cafe Asia, everyone can just follow me...it is quite easy. All you gotta do is go down to Key bridge, take a right onto that offramp before you get to g-town, and follow K street straight down to 6th, take a left on 6th, and you will be in front of Insomnia!

agreed... it doesnt make much sense for those of us coming from the north to drive to Arlington to just turn around and drive to Glow. And to say it will only take that long disregarding traffic is dumb cuz you never have any idea what kind of traffic there is gonna be even at 10 pm, DC is just like that. This is one event I dont wanna have to worry about being late to due to some unforseen circumstance. You all have fun if you go there, Erin and I will probably just hit a chill bar beforehand. Anyone else is welcome to join
