IMPACT - INSPIRATION
A no brainer ....
Been a dance music fan since the 80s ... first trance album that I got to have was PAUL VAN DYK - X-MIX (THE MFS TRIP) from 1993 and its still one of my all-time favourites. The first trance track I've heard ? Thats the best trance track of all-time!!!!!! :::
Robert Miles -Children
... from 1996
I scoffed at electronic dance music until I got RealPlayer v3 (or was it 5?)and discovered one of the preset stations, www.thewomb.com They played all kinds of breaky-housey-swirly stuff, very late-90s-ish.
Then I found other stations, rave-something-or-other, pseudo.com, groovetech, there were a bunch of them and genres weren't such a big deal at the time, not to me anyway. You'd tune in and get Jeff Mills - The Bells or Jam & Spoon - Stella or Six Underground by the Sneaker Pimps depending who was spinning at the time. Around '99 there were a lot of things on the radio, the real radio, that sounded like Lost Witness - Happiness Happening. MP3.com was overflowing with melodic trance; PPK and Astral Projection were on there too! It was all in my face before I knew what it was, and certainly before it became what it is now.
My friend Marce getting the Paul Van Dyk CD "45 RPM" cuz he loved a track "For An Angel" he heard on MTV's AMP (awesome show but not around anymore I don't think...) in 1998-9... Then I remember going to Britain and listening to a radio show on KISS FM with Tall Paul and Seb Fontaine and they played Veracocha-Carte Blanche and I'm just like, OMG this is amazing! Then my friend let me hear Tranceport 1 and Oakenfold GU in NY, and it was all over
My first encounter with trance was back in 98-99 when trance was dominating charts. I was at my first party with Kimball Collins, Joshua Ryan, and Ryan Matthew(local Prog. trance dj). I didn't know anything at the time about the music, all I knew was that it was really angelic and pretty. It put a smile on my face and made me want to dance. I finally went up to one of the promoters and asked them what this was and they told me "this is prog. trance". About a month or so later Oakenfold's tranceport came out and I was hooked. That cd changed my whole perspective of electronic music. Still to this day trance is my favorite genre of electronic music. In my opinion, no other electronic music is as emotional as trance is.
Eh, the good times ......

I donno if this counts, but I first really started getting into electronic dance music when I heard Real McCoy - Run Away on the radio. Later on I heard Alice DJ - Better Off Alone at a dance party I was at, and from there I was hooked.
The first true trance song that really captured me was Chicane - Saltwater, follwed by Gus Gus - Purple (Sasha vs. The Light Mix)
Vengaboys - Kiss (Airscape Remix)
My next door neighbor in my dorm introduced this to me and Trance back in '99.
robert miles-Children
or Silence -Delerium
cant quite remember???
I still remember my very first favorite song ever -- Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus -- back when I was 6 (my way older sis introduced me to it). I went into the metal/industrial scene in my early teens with electronic music on the side. If you consider depeche mode stretching it, then it would have to be Paul Oakenfold - Tranceport that literally launched electronic music into my (by far) favorite music over-night. I was working at a music store back in high-school and one of the guys who worked there listened to euro-dance and other random dance music. I asked him to suggest something, he suggested Tranceport, I bought it, and on a long drive that weekend I openned it and was hooked for life. Thank goodness I worked at that music store :P
I remember it was... dunno 1998 i think, and steped up into a friend's car, he put a mag's compilation CD (i copied it, still have it, and love it). Classic Trance colection. I think if it weren't because of the 1st track (Robert Miles - Children), I wouldn't have paid attention to the rest, which are great anyway, but the magic was sparked by Children
. Looks like lots of us got hooked with that song.

first used to listen to some of me brothers stuff like sash and his 'big hits' cds. unfortunately. then started listenin dance anthems on radio1 on sunday nites, then moved through house and general dance to refine to trance.
Long story, made worthwhile by the result. enjoy
first proper encounter - dumonde - memory (WAHHAA!!! GO NUTS!!!!)
Tunes like "BBE - Seven days and one week" and "Robert Miles - Children". I played them from a popular non-trance compilation cd. And I was only 11 years old

Well, I've been following trance since the very beginning. Was hooked on
U.S.U.R.A. - Open Your Mind
Cherrymoon Trax - The House Of House
Jones & Stephenson - The First Rebirth
went on to
Cygnus X - The Orange Theme
and via
Yves Deruyter - The Rebel
finally heard
System F - Out Of The Blue
in '98.
Later on I was so in love with
Rank 1 - Airwave
A google search for
DuMonde vs. Lange - Memory
then got me to DTF, later via 'Trancegate': TA, [i:Vibes] and so on.
mine wasnt a song it was dj tiesto's magik 3 i beleive, and that was it i had to have more........
Way back in '95 I was listening to happy hardcore then I discovered Legend B - Lost in Love.
A bit hard and fast but that was the first track with trancey elements to it. I got onto hard trance for a while, the stuff from Cenobite Records then I discovered real trance after buying Reactivate 12 compilation.
From that day and onwars I have been hooked onto trance.
First there was ATB- 9pm. I liked it, but didn't follow it up.
Then one night I was listening to the chart on the radio, and everyone was on about what would be number 1- some Westlife track or... Zombie Nation- KernKraft 400 I listened and it absolutely blew me away. Then not long after i heard Storm- Time to Burn and that was it.
the legend of trance - we must spread the sound for future generations of ta's
NOW GO!!!!!!!!!!
Paul Van Dyk - For an angel
I heard it first on his liveset from gallery turnmills in 1999.
This track personificate Trance!
