Looks like it was a whole set up from the beginning. Ramon did say that "it was all going to be on Jack" after its all finished.

And as for the virus...hmmmm; I think it's either Jack that is going to be infected, or Palmer already is infected, and the pills he's taking are keeping the virus dormant.

OK, the virus is not a threat anymore. I don't know if it was a stage or not because Jack was positive it was a threat. There is a virus but no one know who has it and frankly who cares.

I knew they were going to make Jack shoot Chase.

I think Jack has some special training for telling weather a gun is loaded or not.
