that video is ridiculous, remember, that briefcase weighs _AT LEAST_ 2 metric tons, and that's being generous

Must be retrofitted with some kind of super dense super strong muscle fiber and skeleton as well that john titor guy seeing as he seemingly effortlessly holds it with a single arm.

And you know, if he travelled forward in time then who the hell posted the video?

if they were that concerned about preserving the health of the earth etc they wouldve tried EVERYTHING in their power to stop the war.i mean come on,thats the first thing you would do,save 3 billion lives.

good read tho...

Posted by Pete Mitchell on Feb-10-2004 23:08:

and the video, notice the warp of the picture after he disappears.such a hollywood touch lol...

SO if you could travel through time you would try to kill Hitler befor he was anything important? what if that would produce that russia became more powerfull than the US and conquer all?

copied straight out of a movie.

Posted by meneedit on Feb-11-2004 01:02:

How funny would it be if someone said to him

"Can I watch you leave?"

Then he goes:

"aaah, no, it.... it only works when nobodys looking.

hahahaha.

he used in this context:

I guess what he is saying is that in order for something with the mass of an electron to create a singularity it needs to be smaller than the resolution of the known universe. I.E. the earth condenses down into 2 cm so something the size of an electron quite literally condenses into nothing.

I am not a physicist however so I might just be reading what he said wrong.

but then again we once upon a time thought the smallest thing in the universe was the atom, then the electron, etc etc.....

not really, as time is a dimension, you are merely moving the matter, jsut as if you move a box somewhere across the floor, your mooving it through 3 dimensions.

moving it through the 4th (time dimension) is no difference, it is jsut harder the grasp the fact as it is time and a dimension we cannot yet ourseves control

actually if you search hard enough you will find he does say he will try to make a departure video

Posted by Radagast on Feb-11-2004 02:26:

You know, among other things, he couldn't travel back to a time before the time machine itself was invented.

Hawking has a buncha stuff on time travel if u have a chance give it a read. Really interesting stuff.

its no on johntitor.com

if you do more research and browse some boards about him you will find a lot of ppl that deep into researching information.. there are also pictures and stuff that were removed form johntitor.com that u can find on the website where this video is

there is no real depature video. that guy was a load of shit.
i wonder who submitted it if it was real?

i read the whole webpage, i think it is a good read, and pretty entertaining but anyone with half a brain would realize that he is full of shit.

no no, your not getting the point. What he's saying is that a black hole with the mass of the ENTIRE EARTH creates an event horizon thats about 2 centimeters. So, the physicist who posted that is saying that the event horizon of a black hole with the mass of an electron would be about 10^-57 meters in length, which is smaller than the planck length, the smalles length we can possibly fathom.

Regarldess of whether or not we find shorter lengths, the point is that in order to travel in time you must create a black hole with enough mass so that its event horizon will consume you, a 6 foot tall human (unless I'm mistaken, in order to time travel through a black hole you MUST be beyond the event horizon, or the tidal forces would rip you apart). So then, considering a black whole the size of the WHOLE EARTH would make an event horizon with a 2cm radius, it would take a black hole MANY MANY times the mass of the earth in order to be of any use.

Btw that video is a complete crock of shit. Thats so ridiculously impossible its not even funny. Besides that, he claims he was traveling with the time machine itself, which is not suprisingly missing from the picture. Plus that little handbag he carries couldn't possibly be a large 1970's IBM computer. Such a nice little hollywood touch of the warping of the picture right there, too. And why the hell would you tape yourself going into the future? What, you just leave it for some idiot to stumble across? Or are you gonna take the tape of yourself traveling to the future, travel back to the past, then post it across the internet? Pfft.

Btw any civilization advanced enough to send a man through time would know that you'd never get him home to his original universe. Assuming our current theories of the multiverse are correct (which I beleive most serious physicists would agree). Even his presence in our time for a split second would alter time in such a slight way, but it would create yet another timeline that he would return to. The people who sent him back would never see him again. This is why you can't just go and kill Hitler or something like that.

Stop beating the dead horse. Please.

exactly my point, i think whoever did deep research whatever got hoaxed on the way into thinking a videos somebody made as a joke was the real one, explain how it got into people hands if it he left with it still recording.

Yes, that was also covered by that physicist. Baiscally, both his black holes would weigh about a billion metric tons each

please don't continue to beat the horse

njizer,

can you explain in a bit more detail in regards to mutiverses, and why you cant travel back to your original Universe? Im not trying to beat the dead horse, im just curious about this notion thats all. I always thought theoretical physicists say "you cant change the past" due to an overwhelming moral issue and the fact that one change in a universe will ripple onto other ones as well. The topic of multiverses is a bit complex, even when trying to explain to someone about the Grandfather Paradox hehe but I havent come across an explanation as to why going back to your original universe is impossible.
