Amazing to think au.ta is becoming responsible
. Amazing. Will be getting them after payday, as tehy DO cut out alot more then what my pair do, and a permanant pair would rock, saving a new pair or 2 every week, which is $30 a month?
ok just got word
the ER-20's are the $35 pairs
but the ER-25's are $250 and need to be moulded..
now there must be a massive difference there!
i know they're not headphones.
but i'd be interested in a review for these.
especially the comfort side of things
great info there - its nice to know that by the time we've realised that hearing loss is occuring its too late to save our ears
I'll be content with having this level of hearing for the rest of my life - and wear my ear plugs with a knowing look if anyone asks in the club!
i would say compared to some people i dont go out much at all, probably once a month on average. Is that time enough to let my ears heal?
curious.

true bassaholix
You know what scared me hard last night, while i was reading this thread i got curious to how much damage my ears have dealt that i have yet to see...now i go put on the hi-fi on normal volume to put on some music, for about 3 seconds in my ear starts ringing...now after about 20 seconds later it just disappeared...scary stuff.

Hi guys, I'm sorry I haven't been on here for a while; I have so much other stuff going on.
This is an excellent thread, there are some very informative posts here. Thanks to everyone who has contributed. I'm glad you guys take the topic seriously. I started taking it seriously after learning of how my friend is now disabled for the rest of his life.
The Etymotic plugs look interesting, my friend who has tinnitus recommended pine-tree shaped plugs and I think he's referring to these ones. I think I'll get myself a pair.
Etymotic is the producer of some high-end earphones. Their ER-4P and ER-4S earphones are regarded as being in the top-of-the-range of earphones. They cost US$330. People say that their earphones are less likely to cause ear damage than other cheaper earphones. Though of course, that's no reason to be listening continuously for 8 hours per day!

Check out the headfi.org forums for anything to do with headphones, the people on there really know their stuff. It's great when you want to buy some equipment.
After reading this thread I decided to do a search on the headfi forums for "tinnitus", and it returned around 200 threads. For example, have a look at this interesting thread, titled "My ear hurts...":

Those who have purchased a pair of plugs, please write your experiences using them.
My etymotic-20s arrived from perth yesterday - typical, they arrive on the monday after the weekend when i really coulda used em
They took 10 days to get here.....
Haven't had a chance to try em out properly yet (obviously)....they're a bit uncomfy, but that's probably cos I'm not used to earplugs at all....or maybe I have weird shaped ear canals *lol* But, I'll see how they go
