great seeing everyone enjoying PvD last night -- he was unstoppable! the new DJ booth setup is really cool, and oh man, those lazers were TOO much! highlights for me were... Lexicon 4 - Reach Me, Inzite - Spellbound, NuNRG - Freefall, Ruff Ryders - Dreaming and of course, the track to end all tracks.... FACE TO FACE!! (winks @ daniela)

And than I dont know how some of you were able to ID some songs, because the songs were so drowned out within the bass that it was almost funny. Roxy made those Phazon's sound like shit.

Seems like the management might have exceeded their capacity for fire safety.

I moved over to stage right where I would have a good view of PvD and when I turned to look to the left of me there he was walking up the steps. Holy shizzlenit. Then as he was prepping up there were these girls where one in a hat and blonde hair got to shake his hand. How happy she was I tells ya,

There were too many people for that venue to be enjoyable. The sound was too muddled but I guess it had to be that way since the speakers were like 15 feet off the floor! And the ceiling is like 20 feet high.

Smile Tongue

Hi, i'm danny. s0t's (Chris) friend.
I wanna thank all the TAs for bringing an amazing vibe the show you guys made it a great night..

For all the people saying the atmosphere was awful, your right. It was well over 90 degrees in there and you were a sardine in a box. I went to the front and had more room there then i did in the back.

One thing that drove me and chris nuts were the random people walking in front of you and the constant shoving that went on for what seemed like hours. That wasn't too cool. If you did happen to step in front of me, i bite my thumb at you.

Anyway, The show was incredible. BEAUTIFUL lazers and visuals. The sound system was lacking a bit, the highs were way too high and at times the bass was kickin my ass.. too hard. Paul seemed to be using the monitors a whole lot and was often taking his phones down around his neck and using the monitors to mix in and adjust the EQ and what not.

The hard house and stuff he played didn't fit at times. But you felt it none the less. True, it was random and it didn't belong. But at the same time the whole crowd felt the beat and the bass so no one really seemed to care at the time. In retrospect, i didnt like what he did with the speed of the choons but for the moment some energy to keep you standing for an extra few hours was welcomed by all.

Some great moments:

Born Slippy.
It was amazing. I saw indy holding up a sign for Underworld - Born slippy and went ballastic. I started pointing to her sign and eventaully paul saw and gave us a nod. He mixed it in beautifully a few songs later and winked at me and indy. I went crazy. Indy and i were pogoing on each other and probably pissed a few people off around us. I don't think I've ever had an experience like that ever at a club. wow.

Beautiful Things

Talk about brilliant. He mixed it in and you could tell by the bassline what was coming. The crowd got really into it and danced (or sorta wiggled, due to lack of space) and sang like crazy. I was belting out that tune with whatever voice i had left from screaming.

Nothing But You.

No one wanted to hear this. Or, very people it seemed. I mean, come on. You've heard that song atleast 100 times in sets and on KTU, it was one of the summer anthems EVERYONE played (cept tiesto... i dont think he's ever spun a pvd tune) Me and a few other TAs joined hands and bounced to it. Awesome stuff.

Time of our lives (ambient)

Talk about sing along. Paul threw this one up at the end of the night and everyone sang to it. People joined hands, smiled, and just lost themselves in this. I remember looking around and seeing 5 or 6 people's eyes closed. The feeling was on and people were totally into it. Great idea to help close a show.

Ruff Driverz - Dreaming

Another song indy and i Pointed to on a peice of paper. He looked at it and sorta laughed like "are you joking me?". But i think he wanted to keep spinning at the end of the night and just ran out of Ideas. So he threw that one on at around 7:45 -> 8:15ish. One of the last tunes he spun.
The crowd went ballastic, i think it was after the time of our lives (ambient), so everyone was in a very "zen" state of calmness. But the second the beat came in people started jumping around with an amazing second wind.

So, to sum it up:
The pizza at Sbarros was decent, the homeless guy asking me for my coat was scary, Roxy security likes to fuck with you, the coat check people are friendly. And people who randomly walk in front of you need to die.

Thank you guys for bringing an amazing vibe.

Overall 8/10.

; D

I DIED !!!

w0w, finally home. This was my first TA meetup. I was the first one at sbarros @ like 8 waiting for everyone. That homeless dude was hardcore lolol. I hope u guys washed ur hands well whoever shaked his hand. Thanx. Some of you guys are crazy tho if u didnt think that TL was hot. Only prob i had (it wasn't the heat, cuz i like being hot lol) is that there wasn't much room to dance or just shake the b00ty at one point it felt like a moshpit ppl shoving and tring to move closer.(esp those 2 azn girls that were really pissing me off, i think sum of u know who im talking about)THe last 2-3hrs tho i had plenty of room to move around. Sum trendy foo slapped my damn eyebrow ring which hurt like hell. Mets, jay Danielle, collbri ur awesome and all other TA's i met.(lee, vlad etc..) Names just go right out the other ear
What was that song he played that it had spanish or sum type of diff language towards the end? I think after "nothing but you"

btw: Is it me or did they fix Roxy up alot from hmm last time armin played there in summer? I like the ceilings now too

pvd=10/10
crowd/vibe=8/10

Hope to see c-ya all at future events.

You know i just rememberd. The dude who opened up Luis Diaz, was pretty good for his last hour. He get the crowd workin pretty hard. I was impressed the opener could get the crowd so worked.
opening djays have potential. they're just held down by the man
And yeah, those two asian chicks. What the hell? i threw them a couple of elbows.

By the way, if any of you saw the big guy with the red pvd shirt and the weird facial hair, thats signum-x. he's on the efnet trance scene (basicbeats) he came here from israel i think to see the show or something. he was all the way in the front.
Also, did anyone see that really old guy smoking a joint at the end? Me and s0t sorta stared at each other mouthing "wtf". it was pretty funny.

You always get those 1 or 2 older adults at these shows. they're a lot of fun.

Talking quick review & additions to tracklist:

I definitely had a great time last night....I wont write a huge review but all I have to say is I'm glad Paul decided to use Final Scratch to its advantage by dropping some classic tunes along with some new tracks! Thats all I was asking for! BTW, I like that Made Events decided to change the booth setup and have him closer to the dance floor, just makes the interaction with the dj and crowd better..

My track highlights of the night:

PvD-Autumn (Deekay's Mix!)
PvD-Autumn (Original Mix)
Nu-NRG- Free Fall
*Space Brothers-Everywhere I Go (PvD Edit)
LSG-Netherworld (unknown mix) (HOLY SHIT!! the reason I fell in love with electronic music!!)
PvD-Face To Face
St. Etienne-How We Used to Live (PvD Remix)
*Lexicon 4-Reach Me (Pvd Rework) !! Very Surprised to hear this!
Underworld-Born Slippy (Pvd Mix)
Oceanlab-Beautiful Together
Second Sun vs. PvD-Crush (Second Sun Remix)
+ many songs I heard for the first time!

Sot did a good job with the progressive tracks...I'll add more when I have time...

nice to see everyone there...

Posted by PVD_S11DJ on Nov-16-2003 02:24:

definitely the best PvD set since Twilo IMO, and the visuals were out of this world... especially towards the end with all those 3d colored images (?) I have no clue what was goin on there. But those 3 lazers were insane.

my review
if music if life, and trance is the religion, than PVD is our GOD. amazing set, amazing night...enough said

Posted by umes23 on Nov-16-2003 02:52:

well, this was one incredible night. i just want to say that pvd deserves a lot of credit, i think he put a lot into his performance last night. i definitely feel that it was his best roxy performance yet. it was definitely up there with november, though i think i enjoyed his set last night even more! yeah, it was definitely reminiscent of a Twilo nite w/ PvD!!!!! pvd had very good flow and came up with some pretty impressive mixing. he started his set and build up to a high energy level very fast over the first hour and a half. then around 4 am, he switched to about 30 minutes of that craaaaazy hard techno! after that, the rest of the night was mostly a combination of a well sequenced journey of great tracks and fucking loud ass bangers. him dropping old specials born slippy and the couch was very cool. a lot of other amazing tracks played too of course, most mentioned i think. pvd was all up on the eqs workin his shit, he even did quite a bit with volume and made just pounded away out those speakers. i didnt think the sound was bad, it just didnt sound as great as it normally did but at least it was banging and loud. around 5 am, the set went through another break with some slower progressive tracks, a couple dark breaks, and then the night finished off with that nice balance of very very very hard, loud, techno beats and pvd bangers. the pace picked up so bloody fast again, he must have been like at 148 bpm or something. i remember hearing turtle beach in the middle of probably the set's maximum speed and it was wicked, along with the other tracks from that time. paul's mixing was as good as it gets and his track selection very impressive. this was by no means a repetetive set from him...... it was PvD rocking New York for 6 hours + the way he routinely did at twilo i remember thinking to myself how fucking good he was every time i would take a break, and be sitting in some corner with my fist pounding in the air as pvd was in da mix! at around 5 30 or 6 am when i saw him rocking the club and those crazy bright yellow circular lights lit the whole place up, i saw the crowd going nuts and realized it was definitely a more than normal crowded dance floor for that time into his set. pvd was really able to maintain the energy. some very very very sick moments last night, all of you that were there have to be able to remember them! wow, unbelievable..... pvd kicked my ass so hard. i am so dead and so tired, and i was so sober yet incapable of stopping myself from jumping through the roof....

very well done pvd, you brought to nyc what brings you love from all of us i am still surprised at how everything turned out, WOW!!!!!!!!!! pvd rockkkkkkked!!!!!

oh, and the dj booth setup down on the floor was SO MUCH BETTER than the standard roxy setup in the back... after some legendary twilo nights and a wmc night in space, this was up there with one of the finest sets pvd has brought north america. hands down blows away feb, april at roxy and central park..... im still in awe!

anyways here's some pics...

Best Paul set I have heard in about two years Live Luis Diaz played the best I have seen him play since Feb 01' (twilo). I remember hearing him play cowpander (I LOVE)... Paul was siply at his best. He got all of that fluff out of him from the summer stage disaster and really brought out the guns. I disagree with Taub. He started very chilled and proggyish ... then he played free Fall and it made my night : P lol thats all I remember hehe jk - Partys like this gan't be expressed in mear words.
