Interesting theory, care to explain how you came to that conclusion? You'll note that:
(a) I wasn't generalizing for all girls;
(b) I made no reference to the content of her posts, positive or negative;
(c) Most guys here aren't capable of operating on the intellectual level you speak of, never mind the girls. (and no, I'm not including you in that "most")
(d) The same guys posting in this thread have never given that kind of attention to any male TA, including the very friendly ones who write thought-provoking posts (to name a few, DaveSaenz, MisterOpus, and even Orbax).

Of course, with all that in mind, I meant no offense at all to butterfly (though she'll probably take some anyway). I was simply making fun of her salivating suitors.

On that note, welcome back Mel.

I don't know how Dave's thread about butterfly turned into a flame war, but I'm thinking that some things have gotten blown out of proportion.

Perhaps you'll forgive me for not seeing how it makes me a hypocrite... since I made the exact same point in that thread which I did in this one.

Try not to lose any sleep over it.

Got nothin' against ya Mel... just don't like the mansluts. Notice how, in the other thread you posted, the very 1st reply was sex-related? And that was immediately after talking about sickness and phlegm. Odd.

It was very funny at first, but I'm mystified how you can still find it funny (not that it's a bad thing to be amused instead of sickened) after so long.

I'd really like to understand this phenomena from the other point of view. Anyone know any cougar messageboards?

hmmm... i dont know. i guess i just find it normal behaviour. maybe i would be offended if it was in person or over IM. for the most part, i dont really care what people here think of me cause i live thousands of miles from most of you and only a handful of TAs will ever get to actually meet me. but you can ask them what i am really like and stuff.

Maybe it is normal behaviour, but I think that makes it even sadder. :|

I find people are generally not too different up front from online. There are nuances, of course, but unless someone is using the 'net with the specific intention of acting out their fantasies or creating an alternate persona, there's not usually a huge difference. I've been told specifically that I'm not too different in person.

Having said that, it's kind of silly for me to do a background check on someone I'm not going to meet.

Orbax - got no complaints about you in that regard. You seem to know what you're talking about, most of the time.
