Same thing happens to me. Everytime I advance a few more notches, I feel that I did a lot of work, and I get no inspiration to make another song. Therefore I usually take a break for a few weeks. Just keep up the good work! -Mental

Really awsome remix, like it a lot!

great!
u've just made a beautiful remix of my all time favourite tune!
just wondering, did u take parts from Mark Moon's mix of the original tune?
coz the melody sounds exactly the same as the melody in that mix.
great job mate!

Nah, I didn't - I just took the midi of the main melody and did the strings and piano based on that.
Thanks for listening

| It seems that the more I advance technically the less I seem to have inspiration... hence I keep doing remixes instead of originals. |
well IMO, it takes more skill to make a remix then to make your own tune anyways... I mean everyone here already knows this tune and has certain expectations right? To pull this off with such a renowned track as this says I'm beyond making my own tunes - look at me I can even mess with the best! To do something this good smacks of talent.
good job man

Yeah, but when you're remixing you don't have to come up with the melody...
Posted by Digital Aura on Jan-03-2004 22:06:
yeah...but have you noticed the melody lines in trance...they're really a joke in so far as being like ONE LINE repeated.
Posted by Mr.Mystery on Jan-03-2004 22:17:
Nope, can't agree with that.

Hey man, this is really good. a little on the cheese side, but it's gouryella, what do you expect?
the production itself is top notch though.

You have an interesting definition of cheese...
Posted by Briden on Jan-10-2004 02:34:
to each his own i suppose.

You made a dangerous statement there..
For me cheese is music that is pure commercial shit"music" with no soul in it aiming at 14 year olds (ex. dj sammy, benny benassi, lasgo, ...) They come up with a sound, change 2 notes with every release..
If you call gouryella cheese then you are attacking 2 pioneers of dutch trance who have made some of the most brilliant songs in the history of trance. Maybe you should change your opinion

The only cheesy thing I thought Gouryella did was Walhalla. The others weren't so bad at all.
Btw.. you're not JohnSmith from the Mpfreescene forum by any chance?
And yeah Ferry & Tiesto have probably been the most influencial trance producers/DJs ever, but that doesn't mean everything they touch turns to gold. I thought Walhalla was awful.

WTF!!!!
Walhalla was simply the best Gouryella song, how can you justify that masterpiece as cheese...
That breakdown actually sent shivers down my back.
wtf, this world is going loony

Indeed...
Sorry, it just makes me feel sick when I hear it. That breakdown sounded like an exerpt from some cheesy american show like Dawsons Creek to me :P
I REALLY can't understand why people put it above 'Gouryella' though.. that had so much more energy & emotion, it's the one everyone remembers & loves..

I do agree with you here isoterra
Gouryella, tenshi, ligaya are 3 of my all time favorites in my vinyl bag but I don't like walhalla tho
and I didn't say they turn everything in gold, but they are both very talented and are capable of creating masterpieces. (barbers adagio for string, out of the blue, carte blanche, southern sun, ...)
I don't think there's one producer that does music for living who never released a crappy record
Posted by Mr.Mystery on Jan-10-2004 16:20:
Don't forget the Armin's Sunset Dub of Walhalla
Anyways, let's not go sidetrack on the thread, guys...

Yep, that I am. Also JohnSmith on this forum with thousands of posts, but i abandoned JohnSmith, because the email i was using wasn't working anymore.
Anyway, to clarify on my "cheese" quote, it's not neccesarily a bad thing. I love gouryella, as well as tiesto and ferrys tracks they are wicked. They are however, slightly cheesy. That doesn't mean i don't like it, to me cheesy just means the really really uplifting to a point of almost being ridiculous melody. On E, i think I would love this track, but when i've been listening to a lot of sasha, max graham et al sets recently, this does sound a little fluffy by comparison.
to be clear, i still like the song!

I had a simaliar problem, just get in contact with a mod/Swamper, the account will get fixed.
Sorry Nik, the song is fantastic, but off topic posts are even better.
