So lindows is making the obvious step in getting a better os for people that cannot comprehend how to install mandrake or any others. Which to me sounds perfectly logical, as long as they can get compatability issues down.

Thats not what lindows is... Redhat does that on its own etc.. Lindows is the walmart os. Trash. You can download the pos for free, then they sell you applications which would normally be free if you owned one of the other linux oses.

Whiskers, learn how to stop double posting. Put it all in one.

eh, I have never really looked too deeply into other os's. I am satified with xp for now. I'll wait til the masses get something new.

and that is interesting that lindows is doing that.

No kidding, now hes playing the childish game of saying hes putting you on the ignore list just to piss ya off. My bet is he didn't do it.

Yeah, Xp does it for me. There was an article a while back that said the reason they are setting longhorn's release date so far back is that XP is just good enough for now. It's not like certain other oses I know of that upgrade all the time ..

Yeh, and putting up that whole "i don't give a fuck" attitude, then he continued to whine shows how much he gives a fuck. lol.

Windows 98 was a big step, especially with FAT32. but ugh! we all have our grudges with the BSOD. I was ready to abandon microsoft and join the linux faction. Sometimes i still think about it, but i always pull out in the end.
Windows SE didn't really fix anything, although it made LANs a bit more stable and easer. ME was a joke. i can't count the number of times i've been asked to fix computers that were faulty because of that stupid OS.
XP is great tho. of course, i enjoy ANY OS that is completely stable, even when the OS gets UNstable.
i have no idea about 2000. i've not tried it or been into conversations about it.
i really hope MS is right about their "SUPER MEMORY ALLOCATION" campaign of Longhorne. I just don't understand why they are saying it's the most memory efficent OS out there, only to require steep memory power to run...

wow .. the UI looks very fancy schmancy .. i love it .. but i just can't put my finger on it . it seems i have seen this type of UI interface with the colors, window design, button design, and icon grouping ..

oh that is right .. that is Linux's UI setup with a blend of Solaris and Mac OS X mashed all together in one ... hey Microsoft!!! get your own damn UI .. stop stealing from others !! .. i guess u guys haven't learned your lesson yet, huh? .. hahahahaha

longhorn is way to far away to even start to review it. yes it has all the flaws still but like said it's alpha. supposedly they dumped all the code they had and rewrote most of the code which i assume is what you have now or not...

as for redhat, i hear it isn't gonna be free no more. while you can still get it off irc or something it won't be on a linux website. the thing is that their gonna stop updating it.

linux should not ever cost any money. The company should respect Linus Trovaldz (whoever made linux, i forget) and his dream for a free, open and efficient OS

well, as of now you just pay for the package itself - CDs, box, manual or whatever... you can dl it, of course.

as for redhat, AFAIK, it's the britney spears of *nix distros - commerical and targeted at the audience. those other distros - the ones that have teeth - are the real ones.

Britney speers is a bad analogy for it... its more like.. the XP of distros..
And there is nothing wrong with redhat.. the vast majority of linux webservers run redhat.

I don't think microsoft will ever do an OS better than windows 2000, and i think they realize that too, what they are now trying to do is to build in every single fucking function into the OS so that people HAS to upgrade when a new os comes, otherwise they can't use internet like they want etc.

http://download.fedora.redhat.com/p...ore/1/i386/iso/

Fedora redhat is still freee. If you look in GPL you see that you HAVE to release the source code for your linux OS, and you can redistrubute it any way you want.
