but if Picotto got 2 hours like Vath....he probably would've played just as good if not better....but either way

Vath spun his full three hours...and I've seen him spin 7, and he does it flawlessly. Same with Miss B - I've heard her do 8 hrs, and it's effortless. Someone of Picotto's reputation (and pay scale! sheesh, I can only imagine) should be able to do the same, techno or not. Not that he was spinning techno from what I heard, but that's an entirely different discussion.

We may find it difficult to find 4+ hours of quality techno vinyl, but Picotto gets it delivered to his front door months before it hits the stores.

Edit: jon, you're going to die laughing when you see some of the pictures Nat took of me. F'en RETARDED I was!

that's true , plus he produces...so what's with this guy
I dunno ...doesn't matter I had a great time.....I'm not going to bitch about a dj I like or who is better
but if anything what we could agree apon is that Picotto was up and down for majority of his set....never quite stayed up
but maybe we should call him up at his house and tell him he's an asshole ...better yet...you drag him out of his house skip...and I'll shoot hockey pucks at him

A general consensus last night was that yes Mauro's production is brilliant (if you like that sort of thing), but that his dj skills are seriously lacking.

I'm in total agreeance with everything Sarah has said. (believe it or not) I'm not gonna feel bad for him, fuck that. He still delivered, but I refuse to give Mauro the credit that say PVD or even *gasp* Armin deserves.

I think i was on the same page as everybody else, because i had no idea what oakey was gonna do. He played real hard, which i think, the crowd wanted. He took a cue from the end of Liquid Todd's set, which i have to say, was very good.

Oakey played the one song i never heard in a club, and always wanted to:
amoebaassassin - piledriver
Now i can die a happy man, i was singing along the entire time!

It was very crowded, but that was to be expected for $15 for oakey. But it was all worth it. THe coat check line was crazy at the end of the night, took so long to get my dam jacket!

I bought a nother oakey shirt, the long sleeves one this time.
Does anybody know what the forgein writing on the shirts mean? I think its the same writing thats on the cover of his Great Wall cd.

Im glad people had a good time, cause i know i did! see you next time!

RJ you moron. This is the song I asked you about. I knew he played it. hahaha I wasn't even in there.

THIS SONG IS THE EFFIN SONG OF THE YEAR.

P.S It was most likely the Sasha Remix

It's funny how some people are wizards in the studio but not as much behind the decks, or vice versa. Like Carl Cox - his production is lacklustre compared to his brilliant DJ performances. But then there are people that are equally amazing at both - Tiesto, for example.

Perhaps why I didn't enjoy Mauro was because he banged it out too hard at the beginning, and lost me. There was no build. The tracks didn't seem to have much substance to them....especially after listening to Sven, whose taste in music (to me) is much more eccentric.

That's ok though...I went for Sven, and I had him.

Were you able to work up the courage to propose to him?

That was an awesome night. First time I've ever gotten to see such a huge group out for a techno event. Sven's electro beats seriously ripped me a new one.

Picotto was good - if nothing else, he really had the crowd going. It was probably his best set I've seen in Toronto, although I suppose it still didn't compare to the sets from Liebing, Beyer, etc. But keep in mind, fellow techno addicts, that the crowd Picotto was playing out to would not have been interested in those kinds of beats. The crowd wanted him to bang it out hard, and he did that, even if his set didn't have much funk to it.

I was not at all disappointed - 9/10 for Vth and 7/10 for Picotto.

No shoutouts - there are just too many to mention - you all know who you are though. Thanks for making the night complete!

P.S. Sarah, edit the thread title you goof! It's your thread!

I'm ashamed of myself

Aaron, I can't. When I go to edit, my thread is still called "Official review: Deko-Ze, Sven & Mauro @ Kool Haus"

Ari or Del combined my thread with Vivid Boy's, which is why the first two pages are so confusing!

actually unless they push me off my little wet spot, they won't be slipping, falling or getting injured since i generally dance on there till its pretty much dry again

Yeah, I do that too sometimes. The main thing is not to slip and fall, which happened to me once

Charlies

Hey Anton,

I believe it's called Charlies. Normally they open it up after 1 for general public. I don't know how to get in if it's VIP, although I'd love to know how

Highlight of the night for me was the pre-meet at Fionn MacCool's. Started off with me realizing I'd forgotten to make a reservation for the group on the way there. Made a quick detour to pick up Ken (mot10n) & Shannon from the bus station, when we arrived, I was shocked to see how PACKED the pub was!!!! Managed to scrounge 2 tables close to each other, luckily. Food, company & music was great. As Graham would say in his Irish accent: "there was a load of craic in there". As soon as that band started up, Graham was up on his feet, clapping, singing & doing a jig. Vince (TheNeonAlien) was right up there with him, hi-five'ing the band in between songs, & getting older women to dance with them. OMG that was a riot!

BIG thanks to Mark Oliver who got me on his guest list last second, and even delivered the wrist bands to me at the pub at 9pm.

Ran into Julia (sexy persian) & RJ right when we got into the Guv. Spent the next 40 mins running around trying to get over to the KH, but they weren't letting anyone thru the orange room til 12am, so we missed Dekoze. There was lots of room when we got in there, but sadly, that didn't last too long... As the night progressed, it just got really crowded & hot.

Sven's early part of his set had it's ups & downs, & he was really tame in behavior compared to the last time I saw him, but the last 1.5-2 hrs were so fuckin bangin'! Too bad he ran away so quickly after he was done. "99.9"- TUNE!

By the time Mauro went on, my head got a little clouded, & I needed some down time. Wasn't much up for dancing or taking too many pics. Spent a lot of time walking around trying to find people here & there. Finally ran into Brianna (sunshine79) from NY & introduced her to everyone. Went over to catch Mark for a while, & that's probably when I missed Mauro spin that "U spin me round" track, which I would've really liked to hear. I much preferred the mix of "Seven nation Army" that Liebing dropped last week- at least I'm pretty sure they were different remixes... HIghlights of Mauro's set for me were "Dark Room" (good call Vince), "New Time New Place" (which I swore he would not play, but I had to eat my words), & "Pandora". Poor Vince was so tired, he looked like he wasn't even enjoying the show. Mauro had the crowd going, that's for sure.

Didn't see Oakey, but heard how 'great' he was. Seems like he was playing most of the tunes he dropped when he was here 3 mos ago. Don't ask me....

Really liked the setup of the new KH- dancers in there looked good too. Just didn't like the lights, and those damn strobes right in your face fixed to the stage, aiming into the crowd.

Too many people to list shout outs to, but met some new peeps like Petiscool, and saw some rare TA's- Obe, TrueToTheCrew & Ukrainian Stud. Spotted NinjaPimp over on the Guv side.

Thanks to all that came over for the after-party. Sorry I pooped out early at 11-something am. Falling asleep in the chair w/a bottle in hand was a good sign that I needed sleep.

MASSIVE thanks to Dallas, for organizing and cleaning my room while I was out. I have a floor once again! Also for entertaining everyone after I went to bed.

Anyways, off to the after-after party now at Ray & Marg's.

XOXO

No, it's not Charlie's. Charlie's is between Guvernment and Orange Room (it was breaks room last night).
The room above Guvernment is Goldclub Lounge, and yes, it's VIP.
