Well I don't know if you guys noticed, but the video is fast forwarded a bit. He accelerates too fast to run, and when he presses Down on the white block in level 3, he goes behind the objects a three or so seconds too early.
Trust me, I tried it on my NES the other day. I bet it actually took him closer to 15 minutes or so to beat it. Cheapo.
Here's a clip of a guy completing Contra in 13 minutes.
Contra done in 13 min

Originally posted by Shock I did, in the start it is fast forwarded and the he slows it down in the latter stages. I don't understand how no one who has seen that video noticed that though, it amazes me. But hey that is a great feat he has achieved. Its not easy to play that game and finish it like that.

Originally posted by placebo Yeah I noticed that too, however, it was more than likely because he was using an emulator, and the differences in speed of a PC and the original NES are far different, thus causing the game to play faster then it would on the normal system.

Originally posted by Turbonium It's actually due to shitty emulators. If you compared the speed of today's average PC (even if it was shit) to the original NES, Mario should be able to run across the level in like a second lol. It's like saying the faster a computer gets, the faster the game runs. If the computer is fast enough or faster than it needs to be, the game should run at the intended speed and not faster.

ya even if it was fast.. look at the skill he went through.. he just ran across like he was on acid lol.. He never got hit once and never resisted to staying one spot cuz of a fireball or some block.. he just went through it lol. I say he's crazy..
Not to mention those mad one ups he got lol
he finished with 99 lives, heh
These videos are awesome... anybody know of any sites that have a whole collection of these? It's nice to see there are a lot of oldskool game addicts on here too
i wanna see that guy beat super mario for the 8-bit nintendo console, the one where you had worlds 1-1 through 1-4 and up to 8-4.... where he was chasing the stupid princess
wahaha, i once almost beat mario on gameboy... took me a while
man, the cia would love to get their hands on such a skillful plumber as mario
Is this link working for anyone else?
It opens in a new broswer for me, but nothing happens. Theres a media player and I press play but nothing happens.
did Entesity take it off their website or something?
I'd really like to see this
I'd love to see someone beat Ninja Gaiden 2 in record time
DAMN. that was CRAZY. Really awesome.
that was friggin cool, woulda loved to see that in person, hope there are more of those vids floating around somewhere, that was insane maaaaan, dayam!! Do another!
for the record, i have never beaten mario on nintendo, and i mentioned that when we were at my mom's friend's house, so one of the twins there quickly 'beat' the game in about 15 minutes... the levels just restarted with different characters (the ones that show up in worlds 7 & up) being present in the first world.
