Posted by allstar on Nov-29-2003 10:45:

I don't mind hip-hop.

Posted by A.J. on Nov-29-2003 11:00:

It's all good people!!!!!

Music is a very subjective thing - each person has different tastes in music. Some people like Trance, some Rap, some rock, some punk, some metal, classical, country, techno.....the list goes on.

It disappoints me that people on this forum cannot seem to see this, making claims like "Rap isn't music" and other similar comments. Music takes many contrasting forms, and you should learn to respect that.

Also, I think the point needs to be made that what you hear/see on the radio and MTV is different to the "underground" music in different genres. For example, 50 Cent made five/six albums before he became a smash hit, and all of those albums were hardcore "underground" rap, not the mainstream stuff that we heard today.

Take the example of "cheese" as people like to call it - DJ Sammy, Scooter, Ian Van Dahl etc. Would people on this forum like Trance to be judged and classified as being like those artists. I THINK NOT. Why is it that people choose to judge other genres of music according to commercial crap that many people would call "cheese"???

Basically, my point is that you should not judge other genres on the commercial songs and artists from those genres, when you would not judge trance in the same way. I think that to do this would be hypocritical, to say the least.

He made no good points at all!! Only about commercial mainstream hip hop is he right, but the fact of the matter is that underground hip hop is moving forward and good like it always has been; just like all the commercial trance shit thats played on the radio.

This isn't directed at you Navid, but a lot of you people need to get their heads out of your asses cause you're a bunch of ignorant hypocrites cause all you do is base your opinion about hip hop on the radio garbage. Real hip hop has more depth in it's lyrics than a Tiesto song ever will. And like Vivid Boy said, in a club, it's the only way to dance with a girl to.

Posted by tc-fan on Nov-29-2003 15:06:

so VIVID BOY why the fuck did you make this thread in the 1st place....i listen to what i like..just because i dont listen to hip hop you gotta bash us...in my job most people listen to hip hop....and do i go to them and bash them..no..i respect their music taste...you dont see us going to a hip hop forums and talk crap.....just leave us the fuck alone then......if you thought we were ingnorant what about all those black people in america that listens to and just to rap music....

True...yet many "real" musicians say the same about electronic music. So i think it all depends on your preference. I don't mind some good hip hop once in a while.

Jay Z - The Black Album

Quality hip hop! Too bad he's taking a break. I do however understand why he's doing it.
A star can only shine for so long before it burns out.

What is something you see in almost all rap videos?
-Women
-Heavy metals they have around their necks
-black people (im not racist, its just an observation)

The only thing i like about rap/hip hop is the beats. My life has no relation to pimping and all that bullshit they talk about.

Posted by neoh on Nov-30-2003 00:01:

I've heard Dr Seuss with better rhymes ;D

I can only stand three six mafia, prophet posee, project pat, etc.. Gangster rap! not this godamned "hip hop" - Ja rule, "LL Cool J" - bah.

TC Fan and others who see hip hop only through the radio and media: Fuck y'all, you don't know WHAT THE FUCK your talking about.

TC Fan: Awesome job on those replies that you made. Holy shit, for a minute I thought that you were racist against blacks...are you?

Cyrus King - Give me a FUCKING break. If you wanna be as socially conscious as you are about music vs politics, then give us a proposal on how trance is related to drugs. PLEASE, trying to tie in world wide, humanitarian issues and "oppression" of blacks in a white world with a urban culture is about as useful as believing Bush: it doesn't work. You seem like your giving a fuckin speech to the WTO. Remember, it's just music.
Your also no different than these ass clowns like TCFan, viewing hip hop as becoming vain: interestingly enough, you see the de-evolution, yet fail to comment on how it has branched off into commercialized business rather than a lifestyle. So what is it? Political ideologies and the big picture of hip hop's true message, or your narrow minded view on how all hip hop is becoming corporatized?
And no, I'm not sorry on getting all riled up about this. I'm just sick of these half assed attempts to decrypt a musical culture that has become so exploited for the wrong purposes.
Peace.

You are completely lost
Do you think its a good thing what commercial HIp shit is spreading, that those messages are positive?

I can appreciate the messages underground hip hop has, its lyrics and stuff, but not commercial shit..

You dont know shit about the iimplications that have been caused becuase of this music... kids glorifying TUPAC becuase he is a gangster that likes to shoot up East side "******s" and kill Biggies kids and MOther"

What kind of message are these hip hop artists sending to Youth as they promote 'pimpin'.... for fucks sake look at the big picture..

Commercial HIP HOP IS CORPORATE OWNED idiot! THose idiot ex-gang members would be no where wothout the head honchos that control and promote their very existence in this scene.

Tell me how commercial hip hop is not VAIN.... you didnt answer that in your post.. alll you could do is whine!

And explain to me how the HIP HOP commercial image is a positive one for Blacks? HOW!?!?!?

IT IS NEGATIVE AND DISRESPECTFULL....

learn your shit before you spew it out of your mouth

Trance is a DANCE oriented genre, it is made specifically for that, not to spread messages of revolt and humanitarian crisis.

How do you know what the song has to do with? It is only perceived as a sound, usually without any explicit or message.

When they play calssical music and show beaches.. does that have "NOTHING" to do with the song.

You are digressing from the argument at hand. Focus on HIP HOP... thats the argment

Cant stand that piece of shit music ... also cant stand nu metal, old metal, much of rock, POP, country, etc ... I got sick of it all, but at some point in time I liked hip hop ...

HIP-HOP SUCKS BIG TIME! THE ONLY GOOD HIP-HOP WAS BETWEEN 1991-1998. AND EVEN THAT WAS MEDIOCRE ... there's only like 0.001% of all hip-hop music out there that I think is worth listening to. GOOD SONG: Coolio - Gangster's Paradise, for example.

Vivid Boy - this is the worst thread ever.
Here's the music that I also like, and I do listen to music other than trance:

Techno / Big Beat / Electronic /
Retro
Disco
Ambient
Drum N Bass
Goa/Psy
Space
Smooth Jazz / Acid Jazz
Melodic Classical
Sounds Of Nature / Hypnotic Music
Classic Eurodance / Dance
HOUSE!
... to name some ...

ISNT THIS WEBSITE WAS ABOUT ELECTRONICA MUSIC ONLY???? HELL, I THOUGHT KYLIE MINOGUE THREAD BY ME WAS BAD - THIS IS A BILLION TIMES WORSE!!!
