Agreed.

Add Sasha, Diggers, and James Zabiela to the list. From what I can tell by listening to broadcasted sets, Gabriel and Dresden have top knotch technical skills as well.

Posted by Qtip_00 on Nov-30-2003 15:56:

lets not forget, even though they are professionals at what they do, they are only human. People make mistakes ok. They cant please everyone, and if your going to bitch about a dj making it number one and then not puting out a set to your liking. Then I would like to see you try to start djing and then get to #1 and then you can talk smack all you want.

Even Mike would probably say not all the trainwrecks were tiesto's fault this time around! i hopE!

the people have spoken....and even some Tiesto haters present at the event loved the set.

yeh stfu i would love to see ppl who bitch about tiesto, try to achieve what hes done etc and i respect the dj's who have achieved so much no matter if there set wasnt the best or how badly it was mixed :P.

If you want true skills, look at DJ's like Hype, Sy, Producer (you probably don't know of these cos they don't all play sounds that appeal, but those guys can mix scratch cut fade, do everything that dj's like tiesto & deep dish would be so jealous of, but they just don't whore the publicity)

What genre are they Ian? Hardstyle? Hip-hop?

Well Hype is a dnb legend. Sy is happy hardcore breakbeat or something like that

Hype is arguably the world's best Drum&Bass DJ

Producer Plays anything from minimalist techno to hard acid techno to breakcore to 200bpm stuff, and mixes it perfectly (I could up a short sample from one of his sets if need be)

Sy is a Hardcore/Old Skool DJ who is perhaps one of the most talented scratchers ever, again I can get a sample at some point if there's a need for it.

As much as I love trance DJs and the like, if you hear some of the tricks these other DJs can do, you do wonder how good they are im comparison, and i do love the trance mixes, but there's not always a lot going on. As for Deep Dish, anyone can beatmatch at 130bpm

Please post a sample Ian^

Hey its "The Whistle Man"

Tiests always played really badly mixed sets, interspersed with a few decent ones, why is everyone so bothered all of a sudden?

Posted by Toufas on Nov-30-2003 19:03:

tell that to his groupies dom

Because he's being constantly billed as #1 DJ as if it actually meant something about his skill behind decks. Some people are tired of him getting credit where's it's not due, when other talented DJs are out there. This set was a breaking point, I think.

I have nothing but respect for Tiesto's production skills, regardless of whoever helps him in the studio. He's produced some of the best trance I know. But, truth be told, he's not anywhere near as good a DJ as a producer.

My personal theory is that he's in it for the dirty hoebags:

I have been a fan of electronic music for a little under a decade now, but what really locked me into the world of trance was tiesto in his 99/00 days (as with oakey in his 98-00 days). His Energy 2000 set blew me away - you could probably say its the best set of all time

anyway, I thought he deserved top DJ in 2001, he completely changed the face of trance, and electronic in general.

lately though, I have not been a fan of his productions/sets. I never download any sets of his sets anymore, and I really dislike his productions, not my stlye at all.

the man definitley deserved the #1 spot at one point in his career, hes just recieving the recognition a little late. this will probably be Tiesto's last big year - but just because his recent stuff isnt too wonderful, dont deny the man respect for what he did to trance - same story with Oakenfold

on another note, you'de think Tjis would be banging muchhhhhh hotter chicks!

heh. *shocked* this is crazy! :P
