I was just wondering.... has anyone here ever met Oakenfold or interacted with him?

Posted by Slylee on Dec-22-2003 18:51:

A girlfriend of mine (former TA "Ur Dream Grl") and I made perfecto T-shirts and wore them to see Oakenfold at Icon in Orlando last year. He saw our shirts and was really impressed and motioned for us to go to the DJ booth. We went and chit chatted and got pictures and autographs, etc...he seemed cool enough but his little crew was trying to get us to go out with them to party after that. It just didnt feel right, because we were with Arturo B. and they were trying to tell us in a nice way to ditch himwhich made us feel like he was going to try to hook up with us (assuming we were desperate groupies). Since we love Arturo so much and wouldnt sell him out like that we passed on the offer...Oakey DOES have an air about him, but I mean he IS pretty famous and a damn good DJ.

Paul Oakenfold is a homosexual. His partners name is Trevor Fung, came as a shock to me as well. Explains his incredible creative side I guess.

If you find Tranceport boring, how can you call yourself a tranceaddict?

If not for Oakey introducing Tranceport to the USA, I don't think American's would be listening to trance. Simple as that.

uhh?? no actually I do, every single one of those tracks was immensely popular at some point in time. Hmm, how imaginative is it too take 11 really popular "anthem" tracks and make them fit into a cd? I'd conjecture not very, but around here you never know... Halfway through the cd all your waiting for is the "next" breakdown like it's going to knock you on your ass or something. When it doesn't, I guess your supposed to be surprised even though you've heard the same formula played through about a million and a half times.

"anthemport"

If not for you being an idiot I wouldn't have anybody to flame, simple as that.

While I'm not exactly sure what grounds your basing your theory on that another trance-by-numbers-why-isnt-this-called-an-ibiza-cd cracked open the 'american trance' market, I can assure you it's most idiotic...

Posted by Mainline on Dec-22-2003 23:32:

i think you'll find that at the time of the CDs release most of the tracks were relatively unknown and certainly not renowned for being the classics they are today. i would argue that his championing of such records from day one has played a huge part in attainment of their "anthem" status.

when trance was at its best oakie was the best.No more need be said really, there you have it.

Instead of oakie been slack could it not be the artists?
Maybe if they were making the euphoric tunes from around 2 or 3 maybe 4 years ago oakie would still be pleasing one and all.

People moan but when someone does make those older euphoric tunes people slag them saying they are dated.
I myself would love to hear more stuff like oakie use to play.
Bring it on
