Damn you're quick!

Never been clubbing in SF but visited there a couple of times. You can tell what Ruby Skye is like just from looking at the outside - from what you've said I guess I was right - mind you I went to some bar around the corner from there called the Red Wood Rooms(I think? - it was in some hotel) and I swear they had one of the hottest servers I have ever seen - got the wife good and mad.

Hoping to come visit in April and May - Armin vs Marcus Schulz and then for Tall Paul - birthday bash for me! - Have to visit when an Englishman is there seeing as I am a Brit myself.

SF seems to have a good scene though - makes me really want to leave SC in a hurry - unfortunately SF seems like an expensive place to live so I'd better get the dollars saved up first.

Thanks for all the information man,

Tom

1. You got it about Ruby Skye -- here's how clueless the people are there and how music-knowing people try to avoid that place...last summer when PvD played at 1015, there was like an hour wait for the preorders to get in (not to mention I have never, ever seen a club so packed...like, it took 15-20 minutes to wiggle your way through the dance floor from one side to the other -- it was horrible!!!)....when PvD played at RS in November, there was NO wait...like, we walked up and got right now...not one person in front of us. Make it worse, the whole place was dead empty until about 10 minutes before PvD came on and then the place just seemed to get full (I think it was more of security was told to just let people start flowing in and quickly pay and stuff because they didn't want the place open for when PvD was coming on.

2. Yes, it's called the Redwood Room at the Clift Hotel...very nice, but expensive place. Love the pictures on the walls....

3. Yes yes, you should come for Markus and AvB

In the meantime, I have added the following to the calendar in a second update for today!

No dress code.

28th is Jerry Bonham (and Kramer)...if you like Prog House, you would LOVE Jerry Bonham...highly regarded. Could be huge, but has chosen not to be. He's sick, dude. Kramer is pretty good, too.

It sucks that all of these clubs are 21 and over. Why oh why is the US drinking policy sooo stupid.

Rasta

boy george huh? has anyone seen him spin? i saw a CD by him once, but i was too afraid to check it out. not exactly sure of his style, but it would be interesting to go. can't wait for may 1st either. is there no mayday concert this year in germany? Those PvD live sets at Mayday were pretty cool. either way, i'm stoked cause i didn't see him last time he came to town. thanks dave for the continuous updates.

Posted by DaveT on Mar-09-2004 23:16:

Boy George is a real good DJ if you like house....better than you might think.

But he totally plays as good as the crowd is....and I don't think he likes the SF crowd that much.

Dave

^
LOL, I would have thought Boy George would fit right in with the SF crowd, especially the Castro district.

Anyways, I'm all set to check out G&D on March 19th. Giving the car an oil change and wheel rotation this weekend and got the day off from work. I hope they spin just as good at 1015 as they'll do at Houston.

Hey whats up, Im from San Jose born and raised, but go to University of Michigan Ann Arbor. Anyway I was reading over this thread and i saw that you guys had the chance to see infected mushroom and i wanted to see if any of you guys saw them. Dave T, its nice to see that someone knows trance on the west coast, most people have never heard of Infected. I saw them two weeks ago in Toronto (birthplace of TA) at the Guvernment. (biggest club in North America) When i saw them they destroyed the place, literally everyone said they tore up the Guvernemnt. And before them was G and D, which were as expected amazing, but what was more amazing was the TA meet up we went to before hand and G and D showed up, we were like holy shit! got to talk to them and chill with them. Request some songs. And their set was hella sweet, the highlights for me were:
Nathan fake - outhouse
Nalin and Kane - Beachball (requested)
Murder was the base vs On a high
Andain - Beautiful things (both g and d mix and Josh tech mix)

I was just seeing what was up during the 21-29 but nothin much is goin on cuz A i dont turn 21 till june and B only humpty vision is worth goin to

Oh and did i mention that after G and D and after Infected mushroom... Rank 1 played a 3 hour Set! Not bad...

I see that someone was comin from hawaii to see G and D, thats pretty hardcore, but try drivin 56 hours in 3 days, From Michigan to Miami to see Ultra 5. Best trip ever, Im tellin everyone GO TO ULTRA 6!!! and ill see you there...

Peace

I'm with you, IM is the best out there. by far my fav. but i think it's kinda cool that no one knows them. i've introduced there sound to so many people already. plus that have one of the coolest names. how can you not remember INFECTED MUSHROOM!

Posted by Zharen on Mar-17-2004 11:41:

Well I'm all set to go to the 1015 this Friday and check out G&D. Even managed to convince a few friends to go along with me so it's all good. So I guess I'll be seeing you there too then DaveT? Any info on when their set starts? I'd like to get there on time and before the line gets long. I'm not preordering any tickets either cuz I'm not expecting the venue to be sold out. I hope I'm right about that...

Posted by DaveT on Mar-17-2004 18:59:

1. Of course I'll be there.
2. Ten15 won't sell out.
3. G&D come on when the main room opens at 11pm and play until at least 4am.
4. I was shocked to see a nice line last time they played, but mainly the pre-order/guestlist line. I got there at like 10:50pm
5. If you are not pre-ordering, Print Out This Coupon so cover will still cost you $10 at the door until midnight. Otherwise, it'll be $20. Pre-orders are currently $10 (plus like the $2 fee).

Or you can try going to G&D's site and get on their mailing list...ya never know, they may send out an email for a guest list. They did last time.

Ten15 also has a weekly newsletter where a ton of people win four free passes. Here is a link to this weeks newsletter where you can enter to win. I've actually already won! Thing is, you have to get there by 11pm to claim the tickets. Note the newsletter is sent via email usually, but it's just a webpage embedded into the email...
