i only read about half of this thread, but fuck yeah i'd be willing to travel. now baltimore is way to far for me since i'm in florida, but thats besides the point. i've travelled (driving) up to 9 hours to party for only one dj. i've travelled 4+ hours more times than i can count to see a dj. and i've travelled 4 hours for ONLY a freakin 2 hour set by pvd. i'm a freakin roadie when it comes to going to shows, and i know a lot of other people who are as well.

i know TONS of people who travel VERY far for parties, even shitty parties, and i think if you brought 2-3 a list djs a night, you'd get a crowd. i think a lot more people will be open to the idea once a line-up is seen. once they know that they can do, i think they will.

if i lived up there somewhere and had to drive 4 hours to get to a party where i'd see 3 amazing djs a night, i'd fuckin go no doubt. esp if there was nothing decent in my area, which from the sound of it, most of you guys are complaining about. and if it was done monthly or quaterly, then its not like you have to worry about driving every weekend. driving 4 times a year to go to an amazing party sounds doesnt sound like much trouble at all. but thats just me, i'm used to being a car for hours on end to see a show.

btw, go noles!!!

im from CT and i travel to NYC(which is almost 2 hrs away) all the time to catch great DJ's.. also up to boston(which is almost 2hrs the other way).if its a good DJ i think people will be willing to make the drive. i wouldnt drive from CT to MD but i def. would drive the 2hrs to see PVD,AVB,TIESTO in one night. ... my friends and i drove the 6+hrs to montreal to see tiesto, avb, ornadel. but then again, aria night club has a much better vibe then any U.S club i have been to.

hey hows it goin
i started college in baltimore this year and i was wonderin where the trance scene was, im originally from nyc so you could understand i'd be a little biased to a "trance" club opening up because i feel deprived witout one. Anway with that said there are some key points needed to be made about the baltimore scene in general. 1) There are A LOT of young adults that will go to the club due to the plethora of colleges in the area. I know from experience there are a lot of kids willing to try out a new club. 2) A little more on the negative side, now im just talkin from experience and from what im exposed to im not tryin to generalize, a lot of the college kids in the area dont seem like they were to exposed to trance because whenever i play it they refer to it as techno and find it really repetitive.. but on the bright side there have been some kids who find it interesting and have started to get into it. 3) I dont know if you would want to run it as a true trance club at all times in the beginnin because you want to ease these people into the scene, and the whole point of business is to attract more people to it in order to further profit. Maybe one night a week a theme night sort of deal. Personally i would want trance playing at all times, but it wouldnt be as beneficial to a business to focus on just one sector, ya know. Finally baltimore definitly is lacking a true club, you may point to power plant and say what about that but i havent really enjoyed one night there, so your club may be the release people like me need. thanks.

p.s.- keep me posted on this topic if possible

Well, I regret to inform everyone that our third appeal was denied yesterday and we will not be promoting a night in Baltimore.

To say we are disappointed is an understatement. We devoted a lot of time and effort into planning and proving to the city that this was a business venture and we were not going to be a "drug haven", which was their main concern. The city is just not open to granting a late license for a reoccuring dance venue.

I will however let you in on the process so no one get's robbed the way we did.

This is the scam of the century.

$72 for a late license application, which is automatically denied, but you do have the right to appeal.

$2872 fee to take your license to the appellate board.

id say, get away from trance, not that big enough of a crowd here for it and yea, youll be goign against glow. Bring talent that glow doesnt bring and sorta work off their schedule by seeing wat dates they are bringing big names. Just because we have buzz and glow here, doesnt mean they have the DC scene necessarily. Glow ppl are always wanting something other than trance, and buzz ppl are always wanting something other than DnB. Its very possible to tap into both place's crowd. Oh yea, keep it in DC.

^^^^ It's not Glow that has market cornered, it's Panorama Production! They promote in just about every major club in the city.

Yes but the thing is, we're talking about trance. Dont worry about every major edm club in the city cuz well, there aren't any. Glow's crowd goes to glow cuz they have some beef with cubik, and cubik's crowd just flat out hate glow and trance overall. HAHAHA. After seeing Danny Howell's huge turnout this past weekend with Dan Sampson from yoshitoshi openin for him, its safe to say that ppl are starved for prog, house and definately techno. Unless glow is having one of those lack luster months, leave trance to glow. Mr Moutso has that taken care of.
