this basically sums up the whole game. They didn't deserve to win...it's not like they totally outplayed our boys and got a a great tying and winning goal. Nope...they tied it and won it off two freaky, flukey goals that just make you shake your head. The Americans always seem to win that way. Oh well...we still have 10 golds compared to their one.

well, you know...Hitler's Panzer divisions did manage to conquer Poland before Britain and France could even declare war.....ok, I'm exaggerating a bit. They put up a good fight with their cavalry....against tanks. It was a nasty business.

what does any of that have to do with canada losing at hockey.

its still a dumbass thing to say.

imo, both teams were great. The americans pulled off 2 great shots, one right over fleury's shoulder and one just between fluery and the post. The other goal they made hit something and went right over fluerys shoulder.

And of course the 4th goal I guess we can say that fluery made that shot. Did you see marc fluery making that last goal? priceless, he just laid there for 4 seconds.

it was perhaps his motivation for stating why Poland "sucks at war". Some historians laugh at Poland's effort against Germany, others take on the view that they fought on even though they knew they would be crushed. (I mean come on..tanks, bombers vs. men on horses with lances.) But yeah....

some guy said Poland sucks at war...stereoprincess got offended...I weighed in with my historical info...bah.

Go and read ESPN...damn Americans are gloating! cocky bastards! They'll think they own hockey now! That is, until we hand them their ass in August!

there are many more obvious things to say. like "the sky is blue" or some shit like that.

anyways, i'm still very sad about the canadian loss. when i heard the scores from the second period i was sooo happy. but when i found out they lost at the end it ws heart breaking.

we'll have a bunch of returning players next year, minus Fleury, but plus Corey Perry. Why Perry was cut I still don't understand.
Crosby will be older and bigger, as will the rest of the team. As long as we get a solid French-Canadian goaltender, I think we can take the gold back on US soil next year, which would be sweet revenge indeed.

Still...Americans are going on and on about this victory...I just have to point out that we have 10 golds, 5 silver, 4 bronze...the Americans have 1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze. They can enjoy today's lucky victory, but we still own their ass.

The sky isn't always blue though. (=

However congrats to smitty for being a douch... you get to be a official american for your thoughts on the topic and you whiney, loser adittude. For the first time ever i am glad to not share a country with someone. Usually i just get to loath bush.

The first Russians came over in the late 70's and early 80's and they're still not as good as the Canadians in the NHL. Look at the Conn Smythe Trophy (for the most valuable player in the playoffs) and it's been won by Canadians all but two times. Once by an American and the other by a Russian.

I hate bringing it up again, but I just looked up who was the first Soviet player in the NHL. And it was:

* Sergei Priakin for Calgary Flames in the 1988-89 season.

Quite a lot of Soviet players have been drafted by NHL teams, but never got to play there, or arrived many years later. For example Fetisov was drafted in 78, but started playing only in 89.

So yeah, you are right that Canadians have always dominated NHL, but one of the reasons was because Soviets didn't start playing till late 80s.

Btw, look at the top scorers this season:

Goals: Kovalchuk 1st, Datsyuk 3rd
Assists: Gonchar 1st

Again, sorry to bring it up again. Don't mean to offend anyone.

I looked at it and the top scorers this season and they will probably be playing for teams that do not make the playoffs and it is halfway thru the season and anyone can get injured (which I hate cuz it ruins my hockey pool team ). In the mid 80's tho, halfway thru the year, the Great One was so far ahead of everyone that you basically could give him the art ross trophy.

And come playoff time, those players won't be scoring like they are now. It's always Canadians who lead in playoff scoring.

Besides, after all that....Canada is still better.
