I will agree that Sarah has a great voice, although I find she hasn't changed her sound much since she first hit the spotlight so I am somewhat bored with any remix that I hear these days that features her. Usually when a track featuring her comes on in the club I take advantage of that time and head for a washroom break. But that is just my personally opinion...so that doesn't mean too much. With all the beautiful vocal talent that is out there in the industry I would love to hear a bit more from other artists and I do shake my head that so many trance producers focus so much of their energy on Sarah. I am sure a big reason why we hear so much of her is... yes...because her voice is pretty and does lend itself well to trance but more so because she is a recognizable voice...which sells. Smart business move I guess. But I say... give me something new!
For starters...show me more from...
Imogen Heap - FROU FROU
Rachel Foster - WEEKEND PLAYERS
Yukimi Nagano - KOOP
or for some nostalgia (because that always makes us smile)
Liz Fraser - COCATEAU TWINS
Louise Rhodes - loved all her worked with LAMB/808 State/Guy Called
Gerald
Sarah Brightman - the angelic voice of MANDALAY
i love vocals
:/
then again im not too critical on anything electronic so i dont really have a say.
I do enjoy vocals more in house tho..not sure why.
Scandals in new york
I feel stereo (one of my fav tracks)
i'm still loving these tracks at the moment... and they all contain some sort of vocal...
Gabriel & Dresden - Lament | Saw
Way Out West - Mindcircus (Gabriel & Dresden) | Distinctive
Weekend Players - Into The Sun (Chab)
Ian Brown - Fear (Uncle) | Polydor
Layo & Bushwacka - It's Up To You (Shining Through)(Lee Cabrera) | XL
my fav. tune at the moment with a vocal is
Chab - What Have I Become
... Luke played it last time i saw him at the kool haus and id'ed it for me... unfortunately it hasn't been picked up by a label yet... i hope someone releases this soon
ria da silva - touch me
beautiful things - andain

| Originally posted by jasmyn by far the best remix. when g&b started their set with this song at ultraspin, everyone in the koolhaus went nuts!! it was sweet. and to hear them tease it in again halfway during their set, was like icing on the cake! ![]() i totally love the lyrics. |
^ word to that eric! i think most g&d productions are gorgeous...
and 'beautiful things'...even though some might say its cheesy, i love that song, 'specially the vocals.
steve.
PQM - Fuck Sonnet
Infish - Acting Out
spoken word, awesome shit...
personally 99% of the time i'm really against vocals of most sort. especially female vocals that have a strong tendency to become cheesy real quick. exaples:
matt darey-wanna be an angel ( gross )
oceanlab-satellite (will wear down on me eventually)
Dubs or pure non vocal tracks is what i mainly look for. in terms of appreciating vocals though, tunes like:
green velvet-flash
blackwatch vs quivver-loveless
pqm-you are sleeping
anything with jan johnston/sarah mclachlan
is great. i alsot like it if the artist is creative and adds in quotes from movies or something like
Lost Tribe-gamemaster
space manoevres-stage 1
but then again, not many of those types of tunes are around much...
Vocals done right:
Cass & Slide - Perception (Vocal mix)
Masters & Nickson ft. Justine Suissa - Out There
Dirty Bass - Emotional Soundscape
Rank 1 - Symsonic (Dumonde remix)
Infusion - Legacy (Junkie XL Mix)
Boss@Nova - Stone Cold
Kyau vs Albert - Velvet Morning (Aalto remix)
Orbital - Halcyon & On & On
EVERYTHING Underworld
Armin van Buuren ft. Justine Suissa - Burned With Desire (Rising Star Mix) (altho the lyrics are kind of weak)
Rank 1 - Such Is Life (Original Vocal Mix)
Sun Decade - I'm Alone (Mirco de Govia remix)
Adam Freeland - We Want Your Soul
Agnelli and Nelson pres. Ultra - Holding on to Nothing
"Standing in the rain
Twisted and INSANE!!!!
WE, ARE, HOLDING ON TO NOTHING.
Feeling Every Breath,
Holding no regrets.
We're still looking out for something"
I'm gonna get sick of this song before I ever get a chance to hear this destroy a dancefloor near me.
PS. Cor Fijneman ft. Anita Kelsey - Healing =

Hot "new" vocal stormahs.
Fave trance vocalist = Maria Nayler mmmm "Be as One" and "Angry Skies."!!
Be As One is one of the few tracks by Sasha I don't like too much, heh.
I don't really care whether I song has vocals or not; if it comes together well then I like it. Unfortunately there's not many Trance songs nowadays that fall into this category (eg. Holding On To Nothing...no offence to the people that like it, but the vocals suck imo).
Songs worth mentioning include;
Perception
Everytime
Illuminate (Charlie May mix)
Hybrids mix of Tears From The Moon
Walking On Fire
...there's a few more but I can't remember.
As for songs that don't have any singing but "humming" and the sort;
Baja
That Chicane song which I can't remember the name of
Halcyon and On and On
^^^ Chicane - Saltwater ? vocalist from Clannad is on that track. btw, Chicane never ceases to amaze me and deserves far more recognition and exposure. Anyone that can put out a cool track with Bryan Adams singing deserves respect!
Many D&B tracks I like have vocals too Aphrodite feat. Wildflower - See Thru It (from the Aftershock CD)...great example of WICKED music coupled with stong vocals.

ack! i hate gamemaster. i like to call it "enviro-trance"...all that talking about nature and stuff. sorry, i think it's cheesy. and i never understood "be as one". i was disappointed in sasha when i heard it
Unkle - In a State
my favorite right now (eventho its male vocals which are usually horrible.)

| Originally posted by charmscars matt bought this tune. It makes me cringe. if he ever plays it out when i am there i will vomit all over the turntables. which would NOT be a beautiful thing. |
another wicked vocal track...
Ortz - Secret Garden (Brother Brown RMX) (Big Star)
