Actually it didnt take me too long to get the basic look of the table down. As time went on I thought of minor details for it, like the speaker stand (the tube itself is hollowed out for wiring), the 1" set in for the turntables, the table mount for the 2 computer monitors,...

Siang, I dont know what you mean about the angles of the shelves... they are regular shelves, like record shelves. I could make multiple views of the table, Ive been thinking about it.

BTW, all the wiring will go through a 'canal' behind the table. My goal is to make sure no wiring is visible.

what kinda tools do you guys use. unfortunately all i have is an old table saw hehehe...my dad has a ton of tools i could borrow, but not much wood working stuff. .

Posted by Siang on Feb-08-2004 02:49:

what I meant with the angle comment is the way you have it pictured. You wouldnt be able to see the inside cabinets unless the table was shaped like a "V" but I think its supposed to be shaped like a "U", no? Still a really good pic tho.

slowly becoming inspired to make some tables like these pictured, they are just so sweet

Yes the table is supposed to be U shaped.

Like I said, anyone that would like a blueprint for their room, AIM me at Aecliptic - Id be happy to try to compose a blueprint according to the size of your room or whatever you have to work with.

What do you have in mind? how much room do you have? Where would you want to keep your recods?

Posted by Vlad on Feb-08-2004 07:46:

Hmmm, now that I think about it, maybe I should start alittle thing for myself to make money on the side, and build DJ tables and accessories. Do you guys think it would sell?

- What's the best kind of wood/materials to use?
- Are there any plans that show how to build them?
- How do you incorperate wire space and such?
- Any 'Do's and Don'ts'?
Thanks!

ya look good, thats all for now

Making a simple table, with a top and shelves like shown in the CAD sketch is rather easy. Go to your local lumber place, grab a sheet(s) of 3/4" plywood (according to the measurements you need - plywood comes in sheets) and build. The only problem I see people having is cutting the wood, I dont think everyone has a saw at their disposal. Other than that, you simply cut to your measurement and screw or staple the wood together, for those thinking about a base, its really not that necessary. In my opinion the standard size for a table that would fit a mixer and 2 turntables would have to be 48" x 20" x 30". For the top of the table, stack two pieces of plywood on top of each other, just for good measure - although plywood is very strong.

yes.

Im trying to come up with a design for a record cases/holder/shelve, it would work like those CD holders that spin and hold like 100 CDs - only this one will obviously be larger. It will spin like the CD cases also. My only problem is its size, I want to make it take up as little room as possible, but this might be inevitable.

Posted by bluastigma on Feb-09-2004 00:05:

Actually, my brother has a large one (not home made) that holds 340something. It takes up about the same amount of space as an ordinary stereo or reciever, maybe a little bit more.

Posted by cryo on Feb-09-2004 21:14:

yeah neu i like your table, its niice

Posted by Vlad on Feb-09-2004 21:16:

The table looks nice, but I think you ended up with too much empty space behind the turntables and CDJ. Otherwise the table looks great.

doesn't work..

Posted by liquidmist2001 on Feb-10-2004 00:42:

that last table is built well, but i'm not likin' the round look of the table...personally i prefer it the table is either straight or at a right angle......like an L-shaped desk...i guess it's easier to work with a round desk, but dunno, it looks kinda wierd...

ya that link doesnt work, whatever, you can see the empty space behind the tt's, cdj, and mixer in both dj_booth_side_v pic's and dj_booth_top_mi pic.

I think the table might have looked better if it was in a heptagon shape.

don't have a link, but in the coffee table section of ikea, it's called a 'couch table'...perfect size for 2 decks and a mixer, slightly shorter than i'd hope....but it definately works.
