I'm going to bash and be fervent in my opinion: RAP SUCKS!

Although some do actually have talent, the majority of rappers are nothing more than catchy 1-liners with their "bling bling" and their money. Ironic, rap began as a fun music that dealt with everday life. Since then it has degraded to DRUGS and the "hard life" but now it is ALL about MONEY! WTF? And since when did profanity become acceptable as everyday language? I guess its cool to showoff...

IF you think I'm bias, I am. But just because I am does not mean I only listen to trance. I listen to probably every genre out there such as jazz, rock, alternative, and classical. BUT RAP?!

ANyways, trance is a much more surreal experience, and like a book, it can become anything.

The radios with more audience here in Braslia - Brasil plays: pop, lasgo, ian van dahl, whistles in summerjam, and such sucky tracks...

In my area, there used to be some good EDM that would come on at night after midnight but that stopped, don't know why. Other than that, the best we get is top 40 pop and hip hop crap.

I pity you American guys. Here in the UK we get quite a lot of dance played on pop radios, and although most of it is cheesy trance covers of old disco and happy harcore, they do play some good stuff. Also, Radio 1 has quite regular dance sessions at night.

Evil1

every station around here plays nothing but creed and 3 doors down, and if it's not that, it's other bands that sound just like them!!

i think i know the situation
in the stockholm area there is a station that plays mostly trance, unfortunaly i cant reviev it as i live like 3 (metric) miles from stockholm, and we have 2 major commercial stations that mostly play whatever the record companies make them play (it can be rock, pop, r&b whatever), and one of them "power hit radio" do play a trance tune here & there mostly commercial, but hey, they have played pvd - nothing but you & tiesto - traffic and i think atrc also,

the other one which is the dominant commerical station is called "nrj" and they also play a tune here & there, but nrj have a 2h show on saturday nights called extravadance, where the first hour is mostly house and the second hour is trance, and sometimes they get some dj to record a 60min set and then send it to them and then they air it.

and then we have goverment radio, has 2 shows dedicated to electronic music, the first one that airs on wednesdays is more of a "profile" show, has interviews and nice tunes. the other one that airs on saturdays plays the newest tunes

the only problem with goverment radio is that their trance coverage is crap, they play mostly house & some techno

Cheese, Cheese and more Cheese from KTU in NYC. Sometimes they play a couple of good trance but most time I have to turn off Britney, Beyonce and whatever is on repeat, as is the norm with radio. Thank goodness for the internet.

yeap. Maybe we're lucky to get a Oakie or Tiesto set at 3:00 AM on a Saturday (and it's usually stuff we've already heard on the internet)

Seattle has one dance station, it's pretty good at night because some of the locals come on a spin for like an hour, but during the day, it's unbarable to listen to it, all it plays is cheeze, with some shitty boy band shit thrown in and just crap.

Posted by Syeker on Feb-19-2004 02:08:

Merengue, bachata, salsa & a lot of shit. Only 2hours of outdated house & techno on saturdays.

dont get XM, they either have random house tracks or a 20-40 song playlist of songs that arent the good mix like regular southern sun

Posted by DjCoz on Feb-19-2004 04:09:

Cool

that and alternative rock and pop. Only EDM is on Saturday nights on KROQ 106.7 there's an underground EDM show and also Power Tools on 105.9 around the same time (Late Night).

Posted by icyhandofcrap on Feb-19-2004 06:47:

haha

well we have top 40 stuff, pop, rock, hip hop and rap

the only edm we have in the bay area is cheese, 92.7

Posted by Raptor on Feb-19-2004 06:56:

KCRW 89.9 FM

If you're in LA and want to listen to good music listen to KCRW. They play everything i mean everything. From world music - idm

Posted by DeleriuM2K on Feb-19-2004 07:43:

from what I hear, Toronto is the best city for electronic stations other than Miami in north america... but its pretty bad - atleast during the day

the only thing remotely close to EDM during the day here is Z103.5, which plays a lot of gino beats, and every once in a while some mainstream trance such as ATRC.

at night though we have some good house/trance programs. 100.7global groove networks, and 89.5 smirnoff experience

I wish we had party 93.1

Hey its not that bad man, with a modern PC, cable internet connection, Ipod and some CDs I often wonder what the radio is If I didn't have the internet I would be deficient in the latest trance tunes if I had to listen to the radio here in NYC. Thank goodness for the WWW.
