I played the previous three before I played 7 and they just didn't capture quite as well. Then I played them after 7 and still think 7 is the best of the lot with 6 in a close second.

Also, VII was the first Final Fantasy game many people played, so it was their first experience in the series, hence they liked it more. I know what you are saying though

huh?! what you just said doesn't make sense. i've played virtually all the ffs and i prefer vii on account of plot, characters, and soundtrack, if not among other things as well...although i really relished 4, 5, and 6 (probably more so than 8, 9, and 10) ffvii will always be my fav

For me it had to be FF VIII I love the story and characters in this one the most.

VII is easily my favourite, it one of the first rpgs i got into, and the story is much better than the other FF's

how the hell can someone pick FFXII to be their favourite, as a matter of fact why's it even in the poll, if it hasn't even come out yet?!

yeah, that last tower was damn hard. but the final boss was so easy. all you need is terra equipped with the gem box and the item that brings all magic costs down to 1 & gogo in your party.

terra > ultima X 2
gogo > mimic

thus, you get four ultima's for the price of 2 mp.

as for the ending, awesome. for a snes game, very awesome ending. it lasted like 20 minutes or so.

well, i see your point. but, the way i look at is this way. if ff6 was created on ps1 or ps2, it would DEF be better than the others. the graphics would then be equal. the story, which was great, would stay the same. and the music, which imo was AWESOME, would be upgraded to better quality yet keep the same melodies. i just think over all ff6 is a much better game the all the others. man, i would love to see ff6 remade with ps2 graphics... ::drool::

this was back in 1994, before they had strategy guides for every game that came out and before gamefaqs.com

i really got stumped!!! but i was looking forward to beating this after the beautiful FF2 on the snes

i tried playing FF6 again on the ps1 for the anthology/chronolgy remakes but got bored. maybe i've been too spoiled by the 3d graphics as of late?

definitely man. i think it would rock so hard. but instead they'll make ff13 with some gay fruit as the main character with some crazy alien monster as the final boss. bleh.

btw, pork, i was searching thru some old threads and i saw you have xbox live. what games do you play on it? right now, i play cs & pso. and my brother plays pso (hes much better than me) & rainbow six.

That's exactly why so many people pick FFVII. If the majority had played FFVI when it first came out there's no way any other RPG can even compare. The story, game system and depth of the game is just impossible to beat.

I'm not obsessed with graphics like a lot are, but it's still hard to get back into it now after seeing the evolution of games since that time.

IMO FF6 had the most emotional soundtrack and story...

i did xbox live for a year, it was really good, but i'm gonna wait til Halo2 comes out to renew another subscription. I think i logged about 80hrs on PSO (aka crack cocaine) on the dreamcast, then another 40 hrs on it for the dreamcast. a really fun game imo. i had a level 70 magician/lady. those magicians become super powerful later on when you can do all those spells, early on they are so weak!

ff6 definitely had alot of character development, plus the music, it is one of those rare games where everything clicked!

one winged angel was definitely one of the most badass of badass final boss songs, you got the mp3 of it right???

also, for those enamored with FF6 music, there are piano versions of its songs by the genius Nobuo Uematsu. i find the piano versions of the ff songs alot more soothing than the original midi bleeps and bloops!

actually come to think of it, i will probably get Live once True FantasyOnline comes out.. have u seen the gfx for that game??? sick!!! lemme know if you'll play that too, i'll try to convince Scottaculous to join us (he's also on Live)

hmmm, i gotta check out those piano versions of ff6 tracks. i just got the soundtrack again (like the 5th time i've downloaded it, i always delete it) and man it is so good. those tracks are so great.

as for TPO, my brother is DEFINITELY buying it, so whenever he's not playing, i will be. the game looks and sounds amazing. my brother is really the pso whore of the two of us. he had like a ridiculous amount of time in the dreamcast one. he had one character at level 86, then he got a hacked weapon that erased him. (needless to say, we had to buy another controller and plaster up a hole in the wall ) then he got another guy back up to like 70+. right now though, i've been playing cs a lot. i never had it on pc, so it was brand new to me. i see what the hype was all about. once you find server with cool people who are willing to accept a newb, its so addicting.
