this thread inspired me to go buy sandstorm and zombie nation on vinyl. seriously, because they WERE and still ARE good tracks. I think most of you are just worried about what people would think if they heard you listening to sandstorm. Think for yourselves. if you dislike a song just because it's mainstream or just because everyone else thinks its stupid... then your disliking the music for the wrong reasons.
eeeeeeeew
Darude? "deejay"? gross

Never heard Darude spin. but i have been at alot of parties where so called cheese tracks that i wouldnt listen to on my own were put in just the right spot in a set and they sounded amazing. the quality of a track is one thing but if its dropped propperly it can make a seemingly crap song sound amazing. i think thats why peoples oppinions of sandstorm dwindled so quickly. hell if i went out for a good night of drinking and heard Kaycee - escape or Signum - what ya got 4 me come on after 50 cent piece of shits - in da club. i would probably hate those tracks too. it has alot to do with the context with which you hear the track. for me sandstorm was way overplayed in the crap clubs and bars across north america... but i really really liked music. and even back in the day, sandstorm.

I had the opportunity to see Tiesto and DaRude last Fourth of July and although Tiesto was very good, I think DaRude stole the show, by far. Does anyone else agree that he should have made the list? Well I don't know if you guys have been to a darude party before but from my first-hand experience and first impression of him, I reckon he was a pretty good dj. He interacted well with the crowd and he even came down to the dance floor, and overall it was a good night out.
As for Sandstorm, face it... it was a hit back then. A huge ass hit.
In fact, its hits like these which grab the attention of people who dont listen to trance. Catchy music. This was one hit which made non-tranceheads go 'hey that tune sounds pretty good'.., and perhaps opened the door to trance for many others... followed by top 40 appearances... thus turning into a 'mainstream' tune.
My point being ... dont diss a tune just coz its old and has been heard by everyone, or coz of how people look at it over the years.
Sandstorm was an excellent tune, you can't change that. And you would still be hearing it had it not been overplayed over the years.
Peaceee
none of you have seen darude live. he actually is a very good dj

Darude really isn't comparable to Tiesto DJ-wise. Some recent darude tunes aren't bad, and everyone loved Sandstorm so it can hardly be called crap, but he has lost the plot somewhat. Tiesto remains as popular as ever, and plays far better tunes, so I'd much rather see Tiesto. Come to think of it, what were the two doing playing at the same venue at the same event??
Still, I'd rather hear "Darude - Feel The Beat" over "Tiesto - Traffic" any day.

Your missing the point... i like it. therefore i bought it.

It seems that many ppl judge his DJ'ing based on just one track he produced, which is not a fair thing to do.
And if that track really sucked, then it wouldn't have been played as much it was. It's not the only track he has produced either.
Give him a chance and check out one of his DJ gigs some time
He's currently touring the US - check his schedule at www.darude.com
If any of you are coming to Miami for WMC, check him out on Monday, at the Wet Grooves event, at the Shelbourne Hotel. I think details can be found at [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
Yea. I live in Ft. Lauderdale which is only about 30 minutes from Miami so I'm going to go. I don't care what anyone has to say about it. If I enjoyed myself, which I did the first time I saw him, then I'll go see him again. And whoever said that he'd rather listen to Feel the Beat over Traffic anyday is a wise man. Traffic sucks.

TranzAddict: The only one who would be able to take offense to my "Traffic sucks" comment is Tiesto himself. I never said "Anyone know likes Traffic sucks"; that would be an attack on the person, like what people were doing to me by saying stuff about me being a newbie or what not. Just by saying a certain song isn't good is not attacking anyone in particular--like what those who flamed me did--it's just saying that a song sucks. But apparently you cannot make the distinction.
Never heard any set of Darude so I can't give my opinion about his qualities of Dj.
About productions: some sucks some are good
