Oh my. That actually made me laugh.

but i think the point is, when tiesto wasnt beatmatching, he wasnt doing any of the other things now was he? seeing as cueing is done as soon as it needs to happen and structure, well he decided it before. so the only thing really is beatmatching.

Yea, but my point was that Ishkur makes it seem like all Tiesto did thru his entire set was just chucking a record on the platter, beatmatch it, throw the faders and then repeat ad infinitum. And that isn't the case, despite how sub par his mixing was that evening.

i think he was getting at the mixing 5 tunes then stopping all the time, etc.

Well a look at the tracklist easily refutes that claim

That is a valid point. The set did have some structure. Though in the context of the DVD I don't think it makes much sense, since the set was chopped up and compressed.

i aint seen no discussion about tiesto DVD review by ishkur.

a negative thread about a certian DJ does not constitute as something that has been done before

maybe if the thread was called "i love tiesto" and was full of peopel saying he is great or shit and arguing then yes...

I have. It turned out to be Tiesto vs PVD, Ferry vs Tiesto, Armin vs both of them, Marco V vs JJ, Sasha vs Oakey vs the rest... bla bla bla. Its midnight here I'm off to sleep.

Posted by ThomB on Mar-02-2004 13:44:

sorry tiesto lovers but i have to agree with the article - having seen the dvd it looks no more to me that a headlining event but the fact that he was that far away from the audience made it more like 25,000 people were there for a live set recording than a club night - yes people did seem to be having fun but knowing what some tiesto crowds are like he could be playing donald wheres your troousers and they would scream....

Tiesto in some ways has gone down the shameful path of Oakenfold - the hype got to him and he thinks he does do concerts - well he don't and unless he actually plays an instrument and sings he never will

sorry if i offend but it's a shame when some stars take what we all dream about doing and make it an unfounded personal showcase

and who might they be then?

Yes, do tell.

I can't believe this thread is this long already. Due to reduntant stuff to say (too many people already confirmed that article is nothing but the truth), I'm going to do something else:

I feel better now

Posted by slinkyhead on Mar-02-2004 14:21:

i fail to see the point of a DVD like this. For me trance is about the music, i want to hear trance not see Tiesto's ugly mug all over the screen. Also trance is about being in a club, its infinitely better to hear it in a club as opposed to on a stereo.

If someone could explain why they feel buying a DVD such as this one is worth it thatd be kool

That's what I think, too .

For once i would have to say that that article was almost bang on. but as for his guide to electronic music.... Complete and utter rubbish..... sure he can name the genres but he cant pick examples to save himself.

Incredibly, the only accurate thing about the guide, in my opinion is the sample selection (yes, including the "not trance" part, although I like that "Exhale" tune), and that's only because he didn't bother being technical

hahahhaa
Ishkur is the man
that review spoke the truth, I agree with everything he said
