Theres no specific plug in for creating the roots as seen in Tim's piece altho there are a few different method. Easiest and most simple way is to create a cylinder and apply 'bend' and 'twist' from here simply taper the edge. Duplicate the shape then tweak the shape, connect to growth point and so on. Also make sure you add plenty of shape smoothing. Level 3 is about right.

Not the best way but defo. the easiest

yeh i thought he would of done it that way but then coz there are so many maybe there was a fractal based plugin.

how do you make bevels (or apply general smoothing to squarey objects) smooth they always look shit for me unless you have a trillion sides

also how do you create light halo's? you know, like a light in a fog or something

You wanna add a mesh smooth to the object with myabe 3 literations depending on ur CPU, as for lighting thats a mother of a topic. Check out some of 3d tut. sites fella. I kinda drifted out of 3d this last year so my skills aint what they used to be.

I have a big imagination, but not big skills with the software (yet).

I like the shapes you made in the cover designs. Did you use just use the shape tools in Photoshop, or did you draw them with paths?

For the moment, I don't have anything to show until I get enough money to purchase some web space with decent bandwidth, but I got a shitload of old images in my comp that I'm dying to put up. The graphic in my sig and avatar is all my work though.
