I like the idea of simplifying it.

I know but for some reason people voted in the poll in the DJ section against removing that word from the name. Simplifying it by removing does sound better.

All I have to say to that, is... hmmm! I didn't see the poll for myself but... hmmmmmm!

I think you know who I'm quoting:

Its funny..I posted the same poll for Amateur DJs Promotion and the results there are basically the opposite of the ones here - they want to keep 'Amateur' in the title.

So.. it would be awkward to have:

Amateur DJs Promotion
&
Music Producers Promotion

..hmm.

I say it would only scare away some people from posting here cuz they don't think they're "pro" enough.

Of course not. the place for non-amateur's is CD Reviews / New Releases Discussion.

Some guys that post in "Amateur" section had their stuff released so that creates confusion in my opinion.

I think the friendly atmosphere of commenting should be continued... if there are too many hostile flame-style comments, of course there would be people scared to get a reasonable opinion. But if someone is new, they can say that for themselves in their thread, and tell a little story about their background experience perhaps. When in doubt, speak it out =)

Make a big deal out of nothing while you're at it. Why even make a thread about this Everybody just keep posting your work, I don't care if this forum was called 'Poo for ears', doesn't make the songs any worse/better

ROFL!

I think the problem is not the word AMATEUR but PROMOTION. Not that they shouldn't BOTH be there, but consider that if you're a professional, then you don't need to post here to PROMOTE your songs...being professional means you already have that PR work done for you. SO... I would definitely keep the "AMATEUR" in there because that who need the PROMOTION.
If anything take out the word MUSIC... I mean Amateur Producers Promotion is self-explanatory isn't it?

Couldn't agree more!

Posted by Spad on May-27-2004 13:20:

I think it should definetly be kept, it signifies that the forum is there for people to drop into and get good advice and feedback.

Without it I think a lot of people would be turned off, thinking of it as a forum for people who produce seriously.

At the very least the forum discription should make it clear that amateur's are particularly welcome.

keep it

I reckon it should stay - as far as i'm concerned its amateur production - some of it may be professional quality but you aren't a professional producer unless you're signing your tracks and making a bit of dosh out of it.

Posted by digitalbeat666 on Jun-17-2004 16:58:

Dunno

I think that "pro" or who think they're pro should post elsewhere (pro producer forum), because sometimes it only leads into conflicts between newbies and "pro" producers. Or on the other hand just rename the whole title into a demo section.

Yup, Drop the Amature bit or create a ne Pro thread for more advanced users

don't see the problem with it... if you were pros, would you be posting your stuff in here?

Yes.

Posted by digitalbeat666 on Jun-29-2004 18:26:

it should stay as it is, the professional producers don't need this board I think, only amateurs.

exactly my point

Posted by Mario432 on Jul-09-2004 05:07:

whatever happens please dont do 2 forums.. because the best part is the diversity, and amateurs getting pro advice. Having a pro and an amatuer would create too much confusion also about who should post where, and 'am i good enough for the other one" stuff.. so yeah thats my take...

Posted by M1cro5lave on Jul-09-2004 09:57:

Tough decision.
But I think Music Producers Promotion would be better. amateur isn't necessary.

Whatever the decision is, don't make two forums. Two forums would just create more peoblems imo.
