New Order had some cool electronic tunes, and Electronic's first album as well.

That synth style is a little overused these days though.

Posted by PhilBxR on Apr-15-2004 15:06:

Are there any other mixes of New Orders 'Someone Like You'? Apart from G&D's, James Holdens, Futureshocks and the best one by Funk D'Void? lol

I suppose thats enough

Also just take a look at this picture to the left

Never Let Me Down Again (which, by the way, Smashing Pumpkins did a nice remake of) and Enjoy the Silence are my personal two favs. I put a remix of their "Only When I Lose Myself" track in my latest mix.....

truly a fuckin GR8 band and WAY ahead of their time....
also pushed toward the digital realm of music.
life-long fan here....
and the remixes.....WOW

A lot of people knock the 90`s musically
but it produced one of the greatest albums
of all time.....VIOLATOR.
if your unfamiliar with it, do yourself
a big favour and check it out.

Having said that, i think their best song
was "In your room"...truly awesome.

Posted by dj tek on Sep-27-2004 15:18:

yeah. my fav. album that came out in the 90s' is Violator wich is from 1990.

What is up with this new Depeche mode fad? I've heard their name everywhere I go everyones all Depeche mode this and Depeche mode that. If they're so old then why are they getting this attention now?

I Feel Loved (Umek Remix)
Dream On (Dave Clarke Remix)
Only When I Loose Myself (Lexicon Avenue Remix)

Like their original work too. Love the melancholic feel to it.

Check out some of the tracks/albums listed above
and you`ll find out what the fuss is all about.

Bach died in 1750 he wasnt "discovered" untill
more than a century later.

Yes, I understand the tracks must be spectacular. So you're saying the fuss is basically that they were sort of undiscovered until recently?

hehe, indeed what strontiumcat said and if you're talking about hearing their name very recently - well they've JUST released the special DVD "Devotional" ...
http://devotional.depechemode.com/

Also thanks to G&D, I discovered Depeche Mode's Here Is The House - from the Black Celebration album - good good stuff!

when i hear their music it doesn't even seem old. you know how you can hear a song and enjoy it just as much or more than you did 5 years ago? i remember they played america west arena in phoenix several years ago and i didn't go see them - but i'm not sure i would have enjoyed the large venue...

Posted by josh4 on Oct-02-2004 22:47:

I just got a lot of their albums. I'm sorry but this is not catching my attention - I don't like it. It sounds way too 80s for me, too many vocals, too much synth, not enough techno. You all seem to be enjoying it but if I had to guess I'd say its a fad that will soon die. Maybe you'll pick a few favorite songs you recycle on your playlists every once in a while but I doubt Depeche Mode will be around much longer.

They were very ahead of the times and did great work but the genre has advanced far too much to see any sort of comeback for these guys. Call them the support base for whats been built on top, but thats where they need to stay.

Now give me back my Oakey plz.
