-- Tiesto losing his style?
Pages (4): « 1 2 [3] 4 »
John 00 has his own style which happens to bore the panty-liners off me
hm i like j00f seen him live once b4 3 years..i liked him i think but havent heard him since that..
on topic: i think that tiesto lost his style a long way back
he said that he wanted to change style and so he did
i dont say i like that dark tech/trance style but i would still pay to go and see tiesto..
I think that Tiesto is still in the running for DJ Mags Top 100 DJ's (aka...the DJ Popularity Contest) simply because he has two hugely anticipated releases coming out this year: "Just Be" and "In Search of Sunrise 4"
I'd say he has a pretty decent shot at doing it again this year. Aparently he Just Be has a lot of tech-trance stuff in it (which is becoming quite popular I have noticed) and ISOS is a charished series of great trance and I'm sure he'll knock that one out of the park (at least with his track selection).
Paul van Dyk will give him a run for his money but since PvD doesn't release mix comps (anymore) and the fact that "Reflections" wasn't oooed and ahhhed over the popularity contest probably won't be in his favor as far as marketing goes. Armin won't touch the #1 spot for a few more years and Ferry won't either, but he is gaining major credit for his electro style.
The only significant changes in the DJ Top 100 list will be the rise of Marco V, James Holden, James Zabiela, Junkie XL and a few others.
Tiesto may still be # 1 this year...I'm willing to bet he still has enough steam to pull it off.

Quite sad actually. I'm amazed at the amount of people who base the Top 100 DJ list off of the artist's productions and remixes. DJing and producing are two totally different things, so think that when you go to vote in this year's poll.

And that's for every artist in every genre. Once someone releases a couple not so great tracks in a row, they suddenly suck to you all. Give me a f'in break. 2. With his DJing, with 90% of you it goes with this timeline: Last month: Tiesto is the shit! He is awesome! This month: Tiesto sucks these days! He can't mix! Next month: (After seeing Tiesto or hearing some recent mix of his) -- OMFG I DIE! Tiesto just played the best set ever. The energy was intense. Best night ever!!! I wish everyone would just stop the bashing (and this goes with anyt DJ...OK, other than Oakey )If he wasn't the #1 DJ in the world, you all wouldn't be saying anything bad about him. Get over it. |

Isn't this all kind og trivial though? I mean if Tiesto is ranked #1 or not is it goiing to change anything? Not really, but I guess it is fun to specualte, but the point is there are many DJs capable of throwing down some wicked sets. I'm against giving someone an official title of #1.
at the end of the day i think most people would prefer a night with great tunes and slightly bad mixing as opposed to a night with great mixing and slightly bad tunes.

you know what, i won't even read the whole post and say this.
Tiesto has sucked from the beginning. The only good song he ever put of is Traffic and even now that's old. He hasn't dipped into any other genres, he's way to expensive to sign for any good events and just plays his own shit now.
Don't get me wrong I love trance. But for me the best DJ in the world skillwise is Mauro Picotto. He can remix anything, and he can mix everything.

I recommend you search on the people's reaction when tracks like Flight 643 came out over 3 years ago. It caused a riot and threads like this one started ever since. Or when he started playing Gatex in 2002, or all of the Max Walder/Frank Biazzi, even Plastikman techno. Hells, he has even played acid like when he started with Hardfloor in Amnesia last summer. Breaks, prog, techno, you mention it. Tiesto is one of the most inconsistent djs ever, to say that he always plays the same style is a hugely ignorant overstatement, and just proves that you don't have a clue. And people have a right to criticize his current stuff or after 2002 when his mixing started slacking off. But to say that he has sucked from the beginning? WTF. Have you heard Innercity 1999, Energy 2000, ISOS 2, Magik 1-6? |

how in the hell did Carl Cox get #1 ???? Where in the hell is he now
???
PVD #1 ??? hope not.

There are many techno djs more technically talented than Picotto (Varela, Beyer, Clarke, Liebing, Rush, Mills etc.). Secondly, TRAFFIC his only good track???
